I will never say never. I think you know I played and later coached 11 years in the McEachern program. I have not coached there in a while but I still have a few former colleagues that do. Baileys mom is best friends with the mother of a kid that was once my QB and who is currently the head baseball coach there. Talking with her a few months ago, I obviously tried to get the low down on the situation. Believe it or not, she said that he was very high on Duke. He is really putting a lot of stock in coaching at the next level and making sure that whoever he starts with will still be there as his coach when he graduates/leaves. He had a great relationship with Bobo more so than any other UGA coach. His other favorite coach(so far) has been Cutcliffe. Bobo leaving was a negative for us but that can be overcome over two years. He apparently likes Richt a lot as well. The other thing she mentioned was his desire for a real chance to play early and that the fact that Eason is locked in on UGA will play a huge roll in his decision. Who knows? Just not getting my hopes up.

I'm thankful that Eason and Hockman aren't both in the same class. I hope to see both of those guys have at least a couple of years starting for the Dawgs. Eason appears to be great at reading defenses and putting the ball in the right spot. Bailey moves in the pocket like a Houdini while keeping his eyes down field and making good throws.

I've never watched a ton of HS football but I hope to see replays of any Lake Stevens and McEachern games that are online.

Anyone hearing where he's going? Heard he hasn't found a home and could stay...despite his dad's wishes.

Bailey is committing to UGA. Hopefully Tyler Smith will decide to join him, but he is a bit more open right now. Wouldn't worry about Hockman if I were you. Rest easy he will commit soon. He is not worried about Eason or any other QB. He is a big Schottenheimer fan as well.

Didn't wanna say anything to JayMac(DickLeverage) cause he's got a lotta McEachern connections but your post is what I've been lead to believe...

Hope your wrong Jay... .....

One thing is for certain, it's nice having a pipeline open there. The talent coming out of there is ridiculous.

I have heard this mentioned before. Why is it so hard for UGA to get players from Mceachern?

Did not see Buds post. That is great news! My info is dated from several months ago. Bailey has got the strongest arm of any QB I have seen out of Ga since Zeier. I just can't imagine having a righty(Eason) and a lefty(Hockman) with such arm strength on the same team. The level of talent we are stocking up is unprecedented at UGA.

I graduated in 88 with Tommy Ingalsbe. He got a full ride as a DLman and was tearing it up in his freshman year practices but entering his sophomore year he suffered a career ending injury. He went on to be an Olypmic alternate in power clean and to compete in the Worlds Strongest Man competition for several years.

The next guy was a guy I coached in 8th grade....Adam Meadows. He had a great career at UGA and later with the Colts.

The next year, Steven Gates(OT) went to UGA but fizzled out and quit by year two. Good guy but not cut out for FBS ball.

Those are the 3 guys from MHS that went to UGA. Gates, the last, was in 92 or 93.

I think a lot had to do with Coach Dorsey. He was never a guy that really was really high on UGA. Don't know if he disliked UGA as a school or maybe just did not care for the Staffs under Goff and Donnan. But somewhere along the line it seems the door was somewhat closed to UGA coaches access to MHS players. Though that might have been more a UGA lack of interest than a Dorsey thing. We sent a lot of guys to schools like Vandy, Duke and GT. Dozens to smaller colleges like GS. Gerald McGrath went to Miss. state as a 3 star and blossomed to be all sec and play for the Titans. Marcus Hinton went to Clemson. TJ Mears and Brad Ware to Auburn. Stephen Johnson and AJ Suggs to UT. Kyle Roper to Arky.

Most of those guys , except AJ, were never really chased by UGA. I think it was a combo of coach Dorsey not caring to much for UGA and UGA coaches not having a ton of respect at that time for Cobb County football. The opening of Kenn Mtn. HS and later, Hillgrove kind of emptied the talent coffer at MHS for about a decade. It did not start filling back up until Hockman got the job in 09. It has been on the upswing again since. It is clear now, however, that the door to MHS players is wide open.

Absolutely. I know Bailey is NOT afraid of the competition and is very confident in his abilities.

You hit the nail on the head. Until the last few years, a lot of coaches considered Cobb football soft. That is no longer the case, obviously. I remember Inglasbe and Gates. I played against Meadows (he was a tight end at the time that was a monster). Great guy. You could tell he was going to be a special player. We used to buy our Christmas trees from the lot he worked at part time around Christmas time.

The good news is that has changed drastically. With the exception of Taj Griffin, all of the top recent McEachern players in the last couple of years have loved UGA. In all fairness, Griffin was wise in his choice to go to Oregon. Perfect fit. Chuma had actually decommitted from SC and committed to UGA, but USC did and said some pretty reprehensible things to make him stick with them. Hockman is doing a great job over there and they are producing a ton of talent. They like Richt and company over there.

Adam is living the good life in Cape San Blas nowadays fishing on his boat and enjoying retirement from pro football. He and my brother were best friends through HS and he is as good a guy as you will find. He just kept growing heavier and filling out after HS and the move to OT at UGA was natural and best for his career.

Good for him. He was always a really good guy. It definitely worked out well for him. He had a great career and was a great tackle.

Elaborate, please.

I know that that was always the scuttlebutt, but I've always been dying to know details.

Won't get into some of the more "sordid" details that I heard. I'm pretty sure they are true, but I can't say with 100% certainty. The one thing that they did as soon as he called them to decommit was tell him that there was no way to get out of his committment because he had signed his financial aid agreement. It was an outright lie, but he believed it. Once he was told the truth (that he wasn't bound by that), they had supposedly held some other things over his head (didn't necessarily have to do with him).

It definitely shows how bad the recruiting game can get. He is a really good kid that had a change of heart, but he was basically forced into sticking with his committment due to forces outside of his control. I want to make it clear that he didn't do anything wrong by any means. Sometimes we forget how rough it is for some recruits. Many fall prey to these slimy used car salesmen/recruiters. I wish it were cleaned up a little. Sometimes we are quick to criticize these kids that simply don't know any better and are struggling trying to appease all of these grown men that should know better.

That's why I am proud of the program Richt runs. He wouldn't tolerate that kind of behavior. He may not be perfect, but he does put the kids first and foremost. That's why Hockman and Eason were so drawn to UGA. Both of their dads are coaches and they realize the kind of man and coach Richt is. Schottenheimer has made quite an impression as well.
