They have some dyke in the top 40 that I've never heard of and it's all based on the fact that she wrote a song about lesbians and was blacklisted. I listened to the song to see if I was missing out and it's decent but not something that would be ahead of anything the legends ever made.

This. I think there are better Cash songs than Walk the Line anyway. JMO

the lack of garth brooks is seemingly odd

Some on the list are arguable, but at least they chose real country music to select from.

I think those are the most well-known, but most are far from his best, though I do love Cocaine Blues. Here's my top 5;
There You Go
Big River
Get Rhythm
Sunday Morning, Coming Down (K. Kristofferson)
Folsom Prison Blues

Love The Gambler. It would be much higher on my list. No Conway on that list. What about Louisiana Woman/Mississippi Man, Hello, Darlin, Love to Lay You Down?

I've always thought "Angel flying too close to the ground" by willie was a really awesome song.
When I was in college, I had a huge crush on a girl and she ended up agreeing to go on a date. We only went out once and didn't really talk much after that, so for the next week or so I played that song all the time
