VALENTINE 1 is the way to go. You will never get caught, and they always doing updates, which will allow you get your V1 updated accordingly.
You've made a super good point here. I read up on this and the lifetime ability to have the unit updated is a HUGE selling point. It makes sense as to why they haven't changed the design much in 24 years. It's tried and true, while Escort is coming out with something new every year.
Also read where laser warning worked 10 out of 10 times in front and 7 out of 10 in the rear in testing on the V1. Escort Max had a high in both tests of 3 out of 10 I believe.

My escort does updates too but I dont think it does what the valentine does. I'd probably have gotten that in retrospect but mine does it's job

You're talking about firmware updates, though, right? The V1 can be sent in to update actual hardware and components in the device with the newest tech and then you get a new one year warranty each time, just like new. I think that's a huge bargain.
Escorts are still great, don't get me wrong. They're better in some respects and it seems there isn't a consensus on anything else being as good as the V1, Escort Max or Escort Redline.

It does if he had just entered the road I was traveling on (which is relatively rural, btw, so not many folks on it at that time). I have no idea how long he had been on my road. There were several points where he could have entered ahead of me.

This was on Mars Hill Road in Oconee county if you're familiar. Not a major roadway by any stretch.

Sucks dude...hope you didn't get pinched too hard.

Yeah, but it's on me. I don't know the fine yet, but my guess is $150 or so. Stinks, but not much I can do about it. He got me fair and square. I'm not detouring for a coffee again for a while.

The problem with this post is not that you made a mistake or even that you speed. It's that you obviously got caught and instead of doing the right thing and slowing down a bit you are trying to work over the system by buying something that will help you evade police.

Well, I suppose that's a narrow viewpoint, but you're entitled to it.
In actuality, I am hoping to avoid getting another ticket should I make a mistake or find myself otherwise not paying attention to my cruising speed. Had a little tone gone off as the officer approached, it would have reminded me to check my speed and I would have slowed...and subsequently been more mindful of my speed, at least for the remainder of the trip. Addtitionally, part of my job requires operation of company vehicles and I certainly don't want to have my job put in jeapordy for making a mistake.
I'm not intending to go out and speed intentionally and get away with it, but I also can't afford to have a mistake impact my livlihood, either.
I love how the "right thing" to you is slowing down a bit (after first stating that me speeding isn't an issue for you). I clearly stated early on that I don't normally travel over the limit; that this was a one-off.
And for the record, I was courteous to the officer, admitted my mistake, apologized, and I didn't ask for a warning, make excuses, cry, etc. I owned it.

The only ones I trust are the Ones made by Cincinatti Microwave. Like the Escorts and Passports. They are more expensive but well worth it. Rocky Mountain makes a descent one.

If you're a CDL, I assume you know enough to talk to a lawyer before you pay the ticket.
For a regular class C license, the key is not to speed more than 10mph over the limit. GSP and local agencies won't pull you over if you are in the single digits. If you have a CDL though, you really don't wanna get caught speeding at all.

GSP can and will pull you over for 1 over. Just depends on the trooper. Anyone other than GSP can't stop you until you hit 11 over. Just remember radar isn't constantly running. Most cops wait and use the eye test before engaging the radar. When I see you hauling arse that's when radar comes on. By then it does't matter what kind of jammer you have. You're got.

No CDL, Salty. I'm good on that. Appreciate the advice, though!

Yep.

That didn't happen in this case. The trick in your example, though, is when you do that to a driver or two in front of me (typically by 2-3,000ft), the good detectors pick it up.

For the record I hate running traffic. Most of the time, unless you're a dick, you get a warning. This country has enough problems without me getting in your pockets for a traffic offense

That's a good way to look at things. I have to say, I've had a few tickets over my lifetime and as courteous and polite as I've been during that time, I've not once had an officer give a warning. I have had a speed reduced, but that's been it. I swear, I always get the short straw.
