and I would certainly live there over NOLA

Thanks for proving my point.

I'd rather live in a lot of places than Atlanta too. But that's only that many more than I'd rather live in than New Orleans (or anywhere in Louisiana for that matter).

Grimness? WTF? Parts of it are like any other big time urban area.

The city itself is a much better place than it was 25 years ago.All but eliminated public housing project (one left )...major redevelopment throughout midtown and Lucky Marietta area, Still some very bad places (the Bluffs,Mcdaniel area, and Memorial drive)

Crime is still an ongoing issue but the city itself is a much better place than it has been in quite some time.

Great. So does LA. You must of missed my post on having all our resources to ourselves. The amount of money we are raped by the govt. is criminal.

Crime is an ongoing issue for most of America. It's 2013, and unfortunately that's how our society has adapted. But at least ATL isn't #1 in murder rates

It's quite obvious you have never been here. Flame on though.

I didn't vote for Obama but he's president.

That's not the point. We have enough resources to be independent as well. Georgia as a whole is well off, and isn't stricken by extreme poverty rates like some of the other southern states.

Get out into Cobb/Gwinnett/Forsyth/North Fulton

Grew up in North Fulton

But my dad is a professor at G-State, so I spent a lot of time around the Capital, Turner Field, and Grant Park. Also had Thrashers season tickets, which meant a frickton of time around the Dome and Phillips. Even now, I can't stomach being in little 5 for too long. If I could live anywhere in ATL, it would be the Highlands. And that's about it

I'm just not a huge fan of the city. I still go spend my money there every now and again, but I wouldn't ever want to live there. But then I've never liked the 75 corridor/Marietta/Cobb areas.

Like I said, you are young. We have been raped since oil was discovered.

That wasn't 8 years ago.

And Shreveport sucks.

What are great places to live in Louisiana? Honest question.

Grew up on the Cherokee/Fulton border. Always leaned more toward Roswell and Alpharetta rather than Kennesaw. Neither hld much appeal to me anymore. Maybe I've just grown tired of the whole metro area after living there for so long

Atlanta could be a great place if they totally overhauled these areas...especially Turner Field. There's absolutely nothing to do near or around the stadium unless you want to mingle with the homeless. There's no MARTA stop there either, which is baffling to me. How fun would it be if there were some nice bars, restaurants, & hotels within (safe) walking distance (or within an easy public transit ride) of Turner Field? Answer: Very.
