Funny how this almost immediately happened after the Stanton MEGA MEGA deal. Obviously Heyward wouldn't have made anything close to 300 million but they do play the same position while jhey is in a contract year.

A little extreme there...When he was in the zone, he was great, but his time in Atlanta was defined by his inconsistency.

His defense will be the greatest loss. Also the fact that the Cardinals are better than anyone at rejuvenating careers. I can easily see Heyward making that leap to stardom in StL.

The problem here isn't Jason Heyward. The problem is Shelby Miller. Seriously? This guy sucks

I'm trying to see the positives - he's a young guy who projects as a low end #2 - high end #3 and still has upside. His peripherals were decent last year, though not as good as they were in his rookie year.

I have read interviews with Braves execs who want to get back to their roots with a pitching-centric team, but this is not what I was hoping for. Why not send JUp somewhere for an honest to god pitcher, and give Heyward another half season to prove himself? He's been decimated by slow starts, otherwise it would be much easier to extend him with confidence. Chances are decent that we could have gotten someone of Shelby Miller's caliber at the deadline anyways.

Ugh.

For a much, much smaller price. Braves just have STL a cornerstone of their outfield for the next 10 years for a pitcher who will probably go 12-12 with a 4.50 or higher ERA.

Someone in STL's front office is laughing their asses off at the ineptitude of Atlanta's front office.

Also, this tells me the organization has no hope for Medlen or Beachy ever throwin a pitch in the bigs again.

If the end result of this trade (and whatever others may materialize) is a lineup that hits less homers but gets on base more often and scores runs more consistently COMBINED with a top 3 rotation - I am all for it. This move doesn't give me any confidence though. I don't think Wren would have made that deal, but honestly I don't know if that is a good or bad thing yet.

well you must not follow the Braves cause he was a member of the relief staff a few years ago and a top prospect

This new gm is bold. Come in and trade the fan favorite the first month you start your job. Brilliant

Traded a rookie 2B who had a solid season for a prospect relief pitcher. Great move there, guys

I wouldn't call Vizcano a prospect. I'd call him a young major league reliever with a live, though repaired arm.

People over overreacting way too much about this. First off, La Stella isn't our future second baseman and never has been. It's always been Peraza and if you go look at his minor league statistics, you'll see why that is the case. As far as J-Hey is concerned.... There was zero chance to sign him next off season, so why keep him around on a losing team this year with nothing in return? Don't get me wrong, Jason is one of my all time favorite Braves and it stings but it's for the best.

Shelby Miller is going to be good. He has posted very good numbers considering his age and not to mention has POSTSEASON EXPERIENCE. Tyrell Jenkins is another great addition. Throws 94-96 with sink and has a really good change up and Is working on a slider. He's only 22, come 2017 we will have one of the best teams in baseball in one of the best stadiums in baseball but the first thing we have to do is do what the Braves are known for and thats regenerate our farm system to one of the best in baseball like it always has been.

Yeah I'm not mad about La Stella but losing Heyward just sucks. It does make sense though

He has actually regressed. He is never going to be a top of the rotation starter. We just gave up quite possibly the best defensive player in the game and a 6 War player for at best a 3rd starter in current form. This trade was god awful. We could have done much better. I have no issues with trading JHey if we felt like we couldn't sign him but this trade stinks. Shelby fricking Miller for Jason Heyward.

Le Stella was making room for Peraza who is going to be good. I like that move. I don't like trading Heyward for Miller.
