So a former mayor in New York City attempted to ban large soft drinks and it's a widespread issue? And what's the problem with Michelle telling your kids to eat more carrots? I thought you conservatives liked telling other people what they should and shouldn't do with their bodies?

If you want to encourage behavior there is no problem. When you want to legislate people eating healthy, there is a problem.

Maybe they didn't report it because it's not newsworthy?

And yet when Dan Quale added a "e" to the end of potato, that WAS newsworthy? SERIOUSLY?

Because our media wants to talk up the dumbest stuff, then let major news go unreported. Benghazi, anyone?

To be fair, drinking softdrinks and eating unhealthy foods only directly affects the person eating and drinking those things.

Not entirely true, see in the new age of Obamacare this essentially will affect the bottom line. Healthy people don't cost as much and by the time you are old enough to need said care good luck getting it. Unhealthy people are in the terms of government costly especially when you go around promising people that you will insure them no matter what medical problems they may or may not have. Getting people to eat healthy and making a push to legislate it essentially ensures someone gets rich or makes a profit somewhere. Smoking is essentially the same concept and has been under gov't attack for years so they tax the hell out of it and encourage people to quit because it's financially costly in the world of the ever expanding health care cost.

Those who are against abortion view it as affecting someone other than the woman making the choice. Not exactly the same thing.

Abortion is not a liberal or conservative issue to me. The fact that people still clamor to this as a political issue and sit around and point fingers at republicans for being intolerant because how dare someone not support aborting a child but to each their own I guess.

This, your elite in this country are typically very high up in the food chain. Tea Party is not that. Sorry

Obamacare is a good example of this. The Democrats didn't have to compromise because they could just ram it through (without reading it) without a single vote by the Republican party.

NOT ONE frickING VOTE IN FAVOR by a republican yet this law was passed. Talk about reaching across the isle and making sure everyone supports it. The partisan bullshite is just that. Obamacare whether you like it or hate it is something we are all stuck with now.

People have the ability today to only read or watch news that confirms their opinions. This is why opinionated tv and radio shows are so popular. This is also why the country is so polarized. Few actually have the courage to challenge their own beliefs.

Agreed 100%. But there is very little, if any, unbiased news. Reporters are supposed to report the news, not create it. however, you have just about any mundane story out there and the news media turns it into a political issue or a race issue. they want viewers and ratings, period.

As for the politicians? they have one aim and one aim only. Get reelected. they don't care if they represent your views. They will vote whichever way will get them the support of:

1) Their party, so their party will back them financially
2) Donors for the money
3)Voters.

We come last.
