OT- anyone know some good spots to find arrowheads around Athens?

Every public park on the Oconee River. You have to get your feet wet and have an eye for it. Trillions of little black leaves look just like arrowheads. I've never found any artifacts while looking, always when I'm not looking.

Large tracts that have recently been clear cut where the ground has been turned over will work and aren't guarded normally...hills near water are your best bet. There' are places like this all over the place.

My dad found a bunch over the years doing this. I never much cared for it much myself.
