Start a Dire Straits cover band.

Actually might moonlight playing a little on the side with an old rock cover band mate of mine from back when we played the Bars/Frats around Athens as undergrads. He seems to think covering drinking country songs is the way to go right now. Haven't covered much country music in my past. A little spending money and free beer for just doing your hobby!

Just went to the commissary (that would be the grocery store to the noners) and damn if that song doesn't get played. Started giggling in the coffee aisle for no apparent reason to the bystander next to me. Hadn't heard that song in years then you guys mention it and I just hear it...

Gotta be a sign...what does it mean?! I'm sure you'll tell me (this should be good)

BTW: I know I just hijacked my own thread after re-vectoring it back on track...

So you own a house in Athens? Not a real hotbed of aviation for a guy with your background. If you don't own the house, try Savannah or Charleston, both of which have a good sized aeronautical industry footprint. If you want out of the aviation industry then by all means go over to Butt Smear and see what they have that might suit you.

Enjoy it. You've earned it.

Nice...figured I see something like this from someone. You didn't disappoint. However, I can attest to you that unlike the line in the song, I have worked my arse off for 25 years and have served my country with honor. I could have done other things and "possibly" made more money or maybe not. However, I chose to give what is by the latest statistics about a 1/3 of my life expectancy to my country and was prepared to pay the ultimate sacrifice if it called for it. You have the right to express your opinion. The first amendment I swore an oath to protect and defend ensures that. I also have the right to express my opinion too. However, in this instance I choose to not demonstrate my ability to be an arse as well. I would most assuredly lose that battle of wits to you Jefferson.

Rules...I'm not wed to the aero industry. My skill set is applicable in many scenarios. Yes, the house is set in the Athens area and CINCHouse has said "we aren't moving". SO--those are my marching orders and I'm excited about it. Gotta make the best of opportunities within an approx 1 hour commute of Athens. Bring it!

Go Dawgs!!

Some obvious ones, in no particular order....

And keep in mind you really need three 45-minute sets prepared, even if you are only hired for 1 or 2 sets.

Family Tradition
Country Boy Can Survive (not a drinking song, but drunks singalong)
If You're Gonna Be Dumb, You Gotta Be Tough
Watermelon Crawl
Piss Up A Rope
Too Fat to Fly

Other ranters will add.
