Kind of lost in the shuffle today has been any speculation about the offensive side of the ball. Obviously anyone would be an upgrade over Schotty, but who do you want to see?

I like the Helton possibility. I would also prefer to see Lilly, BMac, and Brown stay on. They seem to really get on well with recruits.

I'm guessing Kirby would bring Napier and/or Cristobal with him.

You think Schotty is bad... Napier was miserable at Clemson. I strongly suggest looking elsewhere.

How about a grand slam OC hire!

Mark Richt ladies and gentlemen.

Riley and Helton were the two guys I wanted last year that seemed realistic, as long as they could input Richt's pro-style. Now, I'm not so sure what we do. We probably need to look pro-style, but I'm not sure who's available at this point.

Richt did say he missed coaching QB's and calling plays. Why not keep him on to do that and mentor Smart while he's at it. It's a crazy idea, but in a world that made sense it would happen.

Could that be why he said you might be suprised with the hire? In talks with Smart to stay on as an OC.

I'd still dig Bloomgren from Stanford. I posted this in the main hire thread, but this was from a guy on FSF:
quote:

Smart is done deal, TBrown, Lilly, and Pruitt staying. OC from Ole Miss is Kirby first choice. Schotty has known for a month he was gone and if he cant sell his house by March 1st then UGA will buy it at a set price. rumor is their are a couple DL who are committed to Bama that will follow to UGA.

Wishful thinking.
Seriously?
From HC to OC for an AD that just fired him.
Brilliant!

Because when you depose a king, the best plan is always to keep the king around to undermine his successor.
