dr, we may have played against each other at one point. Our All Star team played against a Bruce Sutter coached team in the late 80s-early 90s. Can't remember the exact year.

Preacher Clackum Field and Oregon Park in West Cobb.
Sutter lived on Hamilton Rd in west cobb and raised both his sons there.
Field trips on that side of town weren't to Rock Eagle, they were to Kennesaw Mnt where Sherman got his arse kicked, and was so pissed he came up with his idea of burning everything else he encountered.

It seems to me that a real fan of UGA would have let nothing to get in his or her way to go to school and earn a degree there. We all have obstacles in our lives, but true fans overcome them to reach their dreams. If going to UGA was not your dream, then, how can you be a real fan? You can justify it any way you want and you can certainly be a fan of whatver you want... but deep down... you know.... we all know.
Maybe this is why we have not won a NC in such a long time. So many of our fans took the easy route that the culture has manifested itself into our real students and fans. THis could be bigger than we thought...

Well that's surely a stretch. Regardless of how much someone loves UGA, some people are only going to be so intelligent. UGA is a pretty difficult school to get into...someone not having the credentials to get in doesn't instantly make them less of a fan, IMO.

I see, so our 'fans' who didn't go to UGA are less intelligent or lack the commitment to reach their goals?

Hindsight is 20/20.... How was I to know at the time that the BOR was going to turn WGC into the states largest social experiment and stupefy the academics at the same time?
UWG currently does not employ even one white math professor. Dr. Pittman RIP....
Besides that they forced a mascot change from the Braves to a Wolf.... A fricking wolf... Why didn't they just choose rapper 50 cent it would have been a better fit.
I pull for the DAWGS so be it!

No dummy, try some reading comprehension. YOU said

You're overlooking the fact that SOME people, no matter how badly they want to go to UGA, just simply won't be able to get in. That doesn't make them any less of a fan.

You said that no matter how bad they want to get in, they won't be able to get in. Is that because they are smarter than UGA students?

I mean I had a 1460 SAT and a 3.5gpa coming out of high school.I wouldnt even say I'm that smart of a person. I'm pretty sure that's well more than enough to go to UGA. Everyone has different circumstances why they choose to go were they go. My circumstances had to keep me close to home for personal reasons. You also have to think to that UGA only accepts but so many out of state students just like any other school. Doesn't mean they couldn't get in.

The findings aren't really surprising as a UGA alumnus. UGA is the largest university in the state of Georgia and our state is the hub of the Southeast region. Richt is a respected coach and person and has created a very positive image of UGA.

Im from SC, started going to UGA games around 5 with a friend of mines who's dad played in the late 50's, pretty sure he was a captain in 58, 59. (Vinesett)
Attended Western Carolina where I ate 'shrooms and hit a LOTTA bongs which led to my early dismissal.
I drove 2 1/2 hours each home game weekend during the Goff/Donnan era, attended Dooleys last game in the Gator Bowl, been to see em play everywhere except Mizzou and Arky, my daughter has danced at Stegeman at halftime and run on the floor with the gym dogs....I'm a Dawg.

Forgot to mention I've tailgated with Spunky, AmericusDawg, UGA478, CharestonDawg and WG....can I get grandfathered in?

You can be a fan of whatever you want. There is no admissions process. I guess, I find it odd that fans want commitment and loyalty from their football players, yet, they were not willing to show it themselves.

You're a dawg. Don't let anyone tell you different. Jefferson is pushing this Georgia elitism for some reason and I don't get it. Go Dawgs brother.

People are free to be fans or not. I was a huge Bulldog fan during high school and for my first two years at UGA for the 1967 and 1968 seasons. My favorite player was the immortal safety, Jake Scott. Something happened after the 1968 season that caused me to stop being a Georgia fan.
At the end of the 1968 season Vince Dooley reneged on a promise to let the players choose which bowl invitation to accept. The players chose to go to the Orange Bowl and play the top team for a chance to win the national championship. Jake Scott was selected by the team to inform Dooley of the players' choice. When Scott met Dooley he was informed that Dooley had already committed the team to play the Sugar Bowl against a weak Arkansas team. The players were angry and they ended up losing to the Razorbacks. Even though he had two years of eligibility left, Jake Scott quit the team and went to Canada to play pro ball. In my last two years of school I never went to another game because I hated Dooley.
Eventually Goff became the coach and I realized that he was an idiot. Later Donnan became coach and I was too busy to follow football. In 2001 when Mark Richt became coach I started following Georgia football again and became a fan.
Some might call me a fair weather fan but I reserve the right to have an opinion. I don't believe in unconditional support. It's never my team right or wrong.
Go Dawgs.

That's a great analogy.
Out-of-state Georgia fans are basically tourists.

So they are there because they want to be there and not because they have to be there.
