It's not rocket science.....

People thousands of miles away arbitrarily deciding on a whim to be UGA fans isn't what makes this whole phenomenon special or what makes it tick.

These people have no tangible connection. THey are merely riding our state's coat tails.

And so they are not our equals.

Let's try a different angle. THink about this.......

If someone started a thread about those Georgians that are Bama fans but that didn't go to the University of Alabama nor ever even lived in the state........they would be mocked and ridiculed and there would universal condemnation, wouldn't there?

Well........... how is this any different than someone living in some other state arbitrarily deciding to be a Georgia fan?

They are both of the same inferior breed.

I'm talking about someone growing up in a different state or region and choosing to attend UGA. There's a difference in someone who decided to be a UGA fan 10 years ago because he liked DJ Shockley and someone who moved from Dallas to attend the school. Are those fans equal in your eyes?

You're asking me questions I've already answered. I clearly outlined an "authenticity" scale in my first post in this thread..

Jefferson Dawg, you have a terrible attitude and apparently you don't spend much time thinking. Mark Richt is not a native Georgian and he was schooled in Miami. Schotty isn't from Georgia and his college was the University of Georgia. None of those things matter because, right now, both coaches are all for the Bulldogs.

Any person can choose to be a fan of the Bulldogs without being devalued.

I went to Augusta College so we had no football, but what got me to be a UGA fan was when a friend who went to UGA but was in augusta for some reason invited me to come to the tracks that saturday for the game. (I worked at a bar called the Georgia Moon checking IDs etc so had a lot of contact with the young, rocknroll crowd)...spent that saturday with a friend on the tracks, got stoned and drunk as shite and Dawgs even won the game. fell on my arse trying to get down to the cemetary to pee but had a great time..barely made it back to Augusta in time to go to work...became a Dawg fan for life that Saturday...been going ever since with the exception of attending dental school 79-83...1st thing I did upon graduation was to become a season tix holder.

No you didn't. The two types I'm referring to fall in to the everyone else category. So they're equal in your eyes is what you're saying?

Irrelevant. Mark Richt, Schotty, etc are PAID to be Georgia fans Einstein!!!!

Offer them more power or money and they'll go be fans of some other school....

Answer my earlier question then.......

What is your opinion of somebody living in Georgia that never went to ALabama or lived there calling himself a Bama fan?

Another way to explain what I think JD is saying is that the non-native UGA fans don't feel the full pain of defeat.

Oh, UGA lost, that sucks, flip over to the Oregon game, go back to work Monday in your Phoenix office park and act like nothing happenned.

But when UGA is making a title run... everyone knows you are a Green Bay, I mean UGA fan.

Boinked a few girls from GA and some family attended UGA. Can I be in the super duper secret club. And do I get my secret decoder ring.

It's funny how I've seen some of these alum fans have posted I'm done or other stupid shite but they are better fans.
Yeah ok

Hell yes! At least Armstrong is part of the system of UGA. Close enough.

If youre the type of fan who not only doesn't give a shite about UGA basketball or baseball, but actively mocks those that are interested, you're pretty lame in my view. I've noticed a very high mouth breather correlation with this group.

Why should I give a flying frick?

Only an idiot cares where dawgs are from. Gurley is from North Caroling. Is Gurley devalued as a Dawg? Moreno was from New Jersey. Is he devalued as a Dawg?. Stafford was from Texas. Is he devalued as a Dawg. The immortal Jake Scott was from South Carolina. Is he devalued as a Dawg.

Jacob Eason is from Washington State. Is he a traitor to his state?

Narrow-minded bullshite is absurd.

Your view is stupid and so is basketball and baseball.

I was born in Georgia and graduated from UGA so it's my God given right to not give a frick about things I don't care to give a frick about.

People are getting emotional about this…

If they used logic, instead, though.....then they might understand that when a South Carolinian etc drives to Athens for a football game, he is technically (and w/out controversy) considered a “visitor” to the state once he crosses the Georgia line.

A “visitor”. Coming to cheer for a Georgian‘s home and traditions. Instead of their own home and traditions.

These are facts.

Hell. The sign at the border says “We’re Glad Georgia’s On Your Mind”. And we are. But, we are Georgians. And you are not. Why is this controversial? I don’t get it.

I don't think that will even register with them.

I believe now that the differences of experiences between the two species makes a conversation on this topic pointless.

Haha, no offense intended deeprig. If somebody doesn't like something a good policy is to just not give a frick about it as you articulated.

I've just known some folks (mostly didn't go to school at UGA) that have an active hostility toward anyone caring about UGA basketball. Ever been in Stegeman during one of the rare occasions that we've got a good team going? It can get pretty damn electric. I know it's not for everybody but shouldn't UGA fans at the very least not actively oppose our success?

I find soccer boring, but if somebody is fired up for the Dawgs more power to em.

Again, Einstein......

Just like with Richt and Shchott from your last post...These players aren't coming to Georgia for love of the state/school/tradition/etc....they're coming for the "OPPORTUNITY" it gives them going forward professionally.

Repeat: These kids aren't flocking to Rutgers, etc are they? And why is that? It's because there is no rabid insane righteous fanbase there like they have in Georgia to GIVE THEM SUCH AN OPPORTUNITY.

Get your head out of your arse.
