Cut the amount of allotted student tickets and take the remainder and put it into a "flex section" where students get priority for x days leading up to that game and then any leftovers are sold to the general public.

They already do this, it just lacks an official label. I've scored some last minute tickets to games against UTk, Vandy, etc. at face value because of unclaimed student tickets. They University won't always announce it, but if you check Georgiadogs on Wednesday or Thursday before a game, you can sometimes get lucky and catch a link to single game tickets before they sell out in minutes.

2012...92,446 vs Buffalo and 92,746 "tickets sold" for other 6 games...

Even when we play FAU (or some other shite school) at night, not many people show. UGA fans in general (not just students) are a fickle bunch: we'll bitch that the quality of opponents suck as an excuse to not go to all the games and then we'll bitch even more when the quality of opponent improves (Boise, Okie Lite, Colorado, etc.) and the schedule gets TOO tough.

Unless we want to go back to playing Clemson every year (and until Tech fires CPJ), the schedule is going to be hit and miss like it is for everyone. I fail to buy that as a valid excuse for shitty student attendance (time slots, sure. But opponent? Nah).

Let me lay out my expectations for attendance:

Games before 3:30 are excusable unless it's a major rival or top ten opponent.

Games 3:30 or later? You're a fricking failure if you have tickets and don't go. You had best make every effort to sell them/give them away if you know you won't be able to make it. Sudden Family/Health crisis is the only way I let you off that hook.

I agree with this 100%. One of the main reasons for students not staying the whole game/ or not going at all is b/c they want to be drinking while they watch the game. So they leave and go downtown to the bars.

Enough students drink in the game that I don't think this is a big deal. It's more of us just having a much better bar scene than most places. They can go and drink in an air conditioned bar with their friends watching the game on TV.

You also have to account for the quality of opponents

The three great times were: LSU, USCjr, UK
The three shite times were: North Texas, Mizzou, App State

I attended all 6 this year and can tell you that the attendance at the App State game was absolutely pathetic, but that was to be expected. However, the attendance at the Mizzou game (12:30 KO) was pretty shitty considering we were both undefeated going into that game. They counted attendance as 92,746 on ESPN.com but I can tell you that figure is far from accurate.

Yep. And the LSU and USC games were two of the best fan experiences we had in years. UK wasn't bad but it was far from great. Mizzou was pretty pathetic. It really boils down to college kids not wanting to get up early for games.

I dont agree with this. I dont know about you but if I can drink a cold beer at the game with my friends and watch the game in person. I would rather do that than be in a bar where you can also drink a cold beer with friends but you hav to watch it on tv and try and keep up with the game.

But thats just me, maybe everyone else thinks differntly. I just love the actual experience of being at the game and I would love to be able to go buy a beer and not have to hide it and enjoy the game!!!

Would be interesting to see the stats of "real" games we play in the afternoon vs the shitty ones we play at noon.

And honestly the shitty teams that we play at noon - the ones we're supposed to dominate for 4 quarters - often end up being sort of embarrassing for a half or so. Nobody wants to watch that shite. And it's been like that for a few seasons. And it's getting OLD. So I get it. I always went to games no matter what but I definitely understand the lack of enthusiasm.

I'm just glad we have Pruitt to breathe some life into the team, which will in turn get asses in seats.

They are trying to make this all to difficult. People don't NOT go to a game because of a lack of canned music or wifi access. There are two things that affect attendance:

1. Opponent
2. Time of Day

ETA: There are 3. I forgot weather.

yup. exactly. i have never heard a single person metnion any other factor besides these when talking about not going to a game or leaving early (unless you count "going downtown" as a reason, which i guess you could).

most people see friday night as more fun than waking up hungover and standing in the blistering heat for the app state game. that's just the way it is right now.

Man half these students don't care about who we play like we do. They just want a wild arse party of a game and that may mean blasting some TU music some. I respect tradition and in no way want to leave it but like someone said these players feed off that stuff.

Are you trying to say that students don't get more excited about LSU than App State?
