Ok, lets see, AJ Greene sells his jersey to a guy for moolah. Gets held out of how many games? Little Johnny gets paid what, $7200 (according to the media) for signing autographs, and we wait to see how credible the NCAA is on college football players making dough while representing and playing the game. Hmmmmmmm, based upon the Scam Newton affair I say they have zero cred and he gets a bye.

Richt suspended him for 4 games and NCAA said "Good Job, sentence to time served".

Had Richt not suspended him, there's no guarantee AJ would have been suspended.

Or am I remembering this all wrong?

Secondly, AJ sold his jersey TO AN AGENT/RUNNER.

That's was the big deal.... not that he sold his own signed jersey, but that it sold for $1000 from AN AGENT which means he TOOK MONEY FROM AN AGENT.

It's never about what's alleged, and always about what can be proven. Sadly, the paper trail with AJ was very short and 100% damning.

I'm with you. I don't think he'll miss a minute of game time. I just find it hard to believe that "Uncle Nate" is smarter than the NCAA. (Not that that takes much, mind you). If he did something wrong, surely somebody will come out and talk with the investigators. The problem with Newton is that no one that was willing to talk to the media was willing to put up or shut up when the NCAA came a'knockin'. At that point, with no proof there's no case.

Personally, I hope JM gets nailed to the wall if for no other reason than to shut up the idiots crawling out of the woodwork to call up sports talk stations saying,"Reggie Bush got busted. Cam Newton caught hell even if he didn't do anything, but Johnny Manziel gets a pass because he white."

The NCAA said the dude he sold the jersey to was some kinda agent or something. Woulda only gotten 2 games otherwise but NCAA tacked 2 more on...

The way I remember it was..... Richt held AJ out the first two games on his own because the NCAA had not made a ruling yet. It was a smart move. He was hoping that after game two....if the NCAA had ruled a two game suspension, then he'd have already served his penalty.

But, the NCAA ruled for a 4 game suspension, so the first two games factored in to that......and he only had to sit out 2 more games.

Still a smart move by Richt because of the schedule. Better to have him out against the cupcake opener and usc than Big games in middle of season.

I thought the NCAA made their ruling and handed it down to AJ the Friday night before our first game and we were told the next day

Don't think so.

Not sure when they finally made their ruling, but i know aj could have legally played in at least the opener while waiting on a ruling, but richt wisely kept him out knowing some kind of suspension was coming.

Trying to follow the saga from up here, it was my understanding that Aj sold the jersey to an individual who did not divulge the fact that he was some sort of agent. I understood that fact came out later. AJ did not have any knowledge according to what I read but then again the media does what the media does best, screw up the facts. My point on this subject, is that my money is on another screw job for UGA while the NCAA applies different standards to other teams and programs.

The facts are AJ didn't think he was an agent. The agent didn't think he was an agent. Even after the NCAA ruled he was an agent the guy went to the media declaring he was in no way, shape or form an agent. NCAA sux and we are morons for not telling them to eff off like everyone else does. Playing the "good guy" has worked out just awesome for us.

Well, Michael Adams is on the compliance board of NCAA now, so maybe that will help level the playing field. I can dream.

the NCAA is a joke!!

So if jonny womanizel doesn't get in trouble, I guess its ok for players to get paid to sign pics of them. As long as it isnt an agent??

Has it been proven, or is it just alleged?

Dina Meyer in that movie was hot. Was waiting for Rico to get a 3some with Diz and Denise Richards.....never happened. Guess I will have to settle for the clip in Wild Things...
