That would be why I said I don't think UGA would be able to keep it secret. I also don't think they'd try.

I just about threw my phone. The espn app gave me an alert and all I could see was NCAA and SEC. I just knew it was gonna be about TGII but it was about Mike Slive retiring in 2015

There are like 100 non coaches that work for the AD. There are 120 or so football players, student trainers. These people all have friends. Rumors are passed around all the time. It's not like there are 4 people and a 20' fence protecting the info. I know several people who fall under this category as do a lot of you. It's not like they are the CIA.

Good chance Richt wouldn't tell us if he's been reinstated. He may not want to give Arky the satisfaction of knowing what our backfield will look like.
I don't think Arky's prep would change that much whether it was Chubb or Gurley.

Fwiw, Pete, I heard yesterday from my guy (before you posted) that there was something happening with this today. After you posted your rumor, I felt confident that we would at least get some new info today.
Maybe we are meeting with the NCAA today? I heard that we were turning in our findings...

This is true, and they're often full of shite. My guy had me convinced Kirby Smart was going to be our DC earlier this year. Clearly that was bull.

Help me here...it is against the rules to even allow your signature to go to memorabilia dealers (whether you get paid or not). Back to what FSU is doing...they are standing on that JW didn't get paid which indirectly is acknowledgment of the fact that he signed stuff for a memorabilia dealer. There is no way under the rule or even ethics clauses of the NCAA that they can justify why he (Gurley or others) would sign hundreds of the same items at the same time. The schools MUST take steps once they know.
"Kids sign things all the time," Fisher said after Saturday's game. "So what do you want them to do, stop signing stuff? We could make them not have any fans from that standpoint and not sign for anybody. That's what it's going to come to, and that's a shame for college football, that somebody exploits a kid. Now, if they're getting paid for it, then I don't have any knowledge of that. I don't believe Jameis did."
So...wtf. The rule isn't just that you can't get paid. That simply increases the nature of the violation. The rule is you can't sign at all. At all. At a minimum, we and they must report the violation and take steps to stop it. You mean to tell me it takes a blogger one day after Gurleygate to putt the facts from JSA and Ebay but FSU (or UGA) didn't have the knowledge or resources to do that preemptively?
Now...anybody want to tell me that any of these schools didn't know this stuff was out there in volumes? They are all guilty of not reacting.
The "don't ask don't tell", "didn't happen if you can't prove it" stuff is maybe why ethics in college sports have gone to sh!t.
This situation better head toward some equity soon because if JFF, JW, etc finish their careers with Heisman trophies and natty's, and we end up having the best player in the country but end his career because he came clean or because some scum bag chose to single him out...heads should roll.
The rule is BS...the skirting around the rule is even bigger BS. Lawyers better be doing their jobs.

So if a memoribilia dealer brings a helmet to the fan Picture Day and gets someone to sign it that's against the rules?
There is simply no way what I quoted is correct, it would be impossible to prove. It all boils down to money.

This you can dance out of...hundreds of items for the same person..you can not. Nobody..the university or the player can say they believe that a sitting with the signing of 30+ items isn't for commercial use.

FWIW...Starting in '11 after the A.J. Green debacle they quit letting you bring any outside items to be signed at picture day ( no helmets, jerseys, footballs, pictures etc.). Even little kids can't bring anything in. They give you 4-5 posters at the gate for autographing...

I would get carpal tunnel if I signed my name 950 times...but I am not an elite athlete.
