Meh.. probably, but my point still stands. Our offense has been stellar but our defense has sucked hardcore.

No argument there, but your statement that we don't compete for championships is absurd and irrational. Tighten up dude! It's OK to be happy with a Top 10 team that is the national conversation for Heisman players and championships. You should have suffered through the Goff years. You would have been the happiest dude in town.

You're obviously new here.

I'm a realist but am over-all a positive dawg fan. I'm always hoping for the best and always willing to give the coaches and players the benefit of the doubt. CTG has worn on my last nerve, though.

Also, my statement about championships isn't absurd or irrational. Our defense got killed in the 2011 SEC championship game and our defense got killed in the 2nd half of the 2012 SEC championship game. Our offense did everything in its power to keep us in the game last year but it wasn't good enough.

You can only rely on your offense for so long before you need to stop the other team. Murray is going to throw a pick. Gurley is going to fumble the ball. We are going to give up sacks and run bad routes. The defense needs to do its job so that the offense doesn't have to go out there and play a perfect game to get the W every time. You can't expect to win championships with all the pressure on the offense every single game.

They say champions find a way to win. That's definitely been the case so far this season for Georgia.

One of the biggest myths in modern football. If this was true the Seahawks would have won the Super Bowl because they had the best defense. But the team with the best (Flacco was playing better than anyone else at the time) QB won.

How is it that UGA was a count hair from scoring more than BAMA in the SECCG, yet UGAs defense sucks and Bama is the pinnacle ?

Because our defense was chock full of nfl talent that played up to their potential once or twice last year like bama does all year every year?

Astute observation. We can only hope your learn to apply that type of logic to rationally evaluating our football team. Answer Peter Buck's question when you get a chance.

Ps. How do you explain all those points Texas A$M laid on Bama? Offer some solutions instead of just whining all the time. tia

Bama had the #1 defense in the country last year and they made the play they had to make to win the game against a potent offense. What won the game for Bama?

They put up 350 yards against our porous defense and burned us with the play-action, and then shut us down in the red zone to end it. We had an extremely effective offense last season and yet we only scored 21 offensive points against them. Our special teams kept us in the game with the onside kick recovery in the first half and then the blocked FG for a TD in the second half. Take away that FG block and the score is 32-21 or even 35-21 if the FG is good and all else remains the same.

Yes, we were a hair away from beating Bama, but it wasn't because of our defense. However, their defense stepped up when it was needed and kept us out of the end zone.

We put huge offensive numbers on them and a lot of points for an NFL shut down defense who put a bunch in the pros and the only reason they stopped us at the end of the game was due to our own mistake...

I realize that UGAs defense is not as dominant as all of us would like to be, but I also think many of you lack perspective and your logic chains make no sense...

I assume you're talking about this year. Well, their defense this year is absolutely down from where it was last year. Last year, they lost but held A&M to 29 points after giving the ball away 3 times.

PS. You're obviously just a troll/alter that is here to be an arse clown. If you're serious about me "whining all the time", then you should probably do the board a favor and stop posting altogether. The content of my posts is overwhelmingly positive towards our team. Just because I'm giving CTG a hard time because he hasn't lived up to his expectations doesn't mean I'm "whinging all the time".

I wouldn't call it a myth but the defense has to do it's part and ours sure hasn't so far this season and much of last season even loaded with NFL caliber talent. This strongly suggests coaching issues. I pretty much see Grantham as still in on the job training. We need to hire someone who is already trained.

We put up 281 passing yards (good) and 113 rushing yards (again, good) against them. We pushed them harder than everyone but Texas A&M, who only scored one more point than we did against them.

We averaged 182.6 rushing yards per game last season, but only got 113. I'm not complaining about the 113 against Bama, but their defense kept us well below our average rushing yards, including 1 yard less per attempt.

We averaged 285.1 yards a game passing, and passed for 281 yards against Bama. That is very respectable to just about meet our average against them, but that was the highlight of our offensive production. We still only scored 3 offensive TDs and were kept to 10 points lower than our average for the year.

I'm not trying to argue that our offense wasn't good against Alabama, but we were only 21 points good against them. Again, final score without the blocked FG is 32-21. Their defense did what was needed while we had to hang the entire game on the shoulders of Murray and the offense. Yeah, we could have won, but we didn't, and that loss is still a sore spot with me.

We're not going to get a homerun coordinator hire until Richt leaves. It is what it is

I agree. Just daydreaming. I don't envision that there would be an ex-HC that might be underemployed to bring in, either.

You don't have to agree with me but saying that I whine all the time when you've got a whopping 30+ posts (half of which have been dedicated to bashing the current regulars here in some way) tells me that you haven't paid attention to what I've said in the past and are only here to troll. Since you're just here to troll, you'd be better to stop posting and do the rest of the board a favor in doing so.
