We are the second highest ranked team behind #1 Virginia. Oklahoma and Cal are the other two that have made it.

UVA is always damn good at mens tennis.
I went to the 2007 national championships held in Athens, helped volunteer some through the event in exchange for free entry (and free meals, clutch). We won the team national title, I want to say against UVA, and in the singles it was Isner against their guy and their guy won. Idk why, but for some reason I'll always remember that guy's name...Somdev Devvarman. I guess bc it's unique, but that name always sticks in my memory.
Despite that loss, was still a great weekend. Except the one time I was denied entry but that's another story, I got in eventually.

Kind of like I will always remember Steve Detweiler for Fresno State because of the 2008 CWS Finals

UVA is pretty much good at everything except football. Their recruiting pitch in non-revenue sports is hard to beat.

Similar to UNC: elite public university (making the UNC scandal all the more incredible ow little damage it has and will wrought) with enough history in non-football sports to sell to recruits. Florida breaks the mold by doing the same thing as UVA and UNC but with a strong football program as well.

Not tennis and I don't remember the exact stat, but one time in like 2008, UVA signed an entire men's lacrosse class (like 10 or so players) that were all ranked in the top 20 players in the country or something like that including the top 5 overall. Not even fair.

Hence I'd be willing to drop, say, Mizzou or even A&M in a heartbeat to go get UVA in expansion. It's kind of amazing how that athletic program as a whole seems to fly under the radar with respect to what schools are considered national powers.

At the risk of an Aggie masturbating themselves into a heart attack, A&M for UVA would be a pretty close to even trade (if not a bad deal) once you consider everything (TV market, recruiting access, relative caliber of academics and athletics, etc). Mizzou for UVA would be a no brainer on the other hand.

Plus you wouldn't need to change the divisions around since Mizzou is still inexplicably lumped in with the East teams

IDK man. UVA changes the academic profile of the SEC overnight. A&M is a good school but doesn't carry the same weight.
IMO, outside of Texas and Notre Dame, UVA and UNC were/are the potential jewels of the conference realignment market. They check all the boxes except championship football, and both of them have competed at a reasonably high level in that before, so the potential is there.

I'd even compromise and take UVA with NC State (given that UNC and Duke will never leave one another or the ACC), drop Mizzou, pick up a school like Houston, and realign the conferences thusly:
West
Bama
LSU
A&M
Ole Miss
MSU
Houston
Arkansas
Vandy
East
Georgia
Florida
Tennessee
Auburn
South Carolina
NC State
Kentucky
UVA
Instantly your basketball picks up with the addition of UVA (history is strengthened by Houston, too), the West gets to offload Auburn in exchange for Vandy, and the conference now covers the entire southern US into Texas

Pretty big misconception imo. Duke is relatively small potatoes. UNC and UVA call the shots in the ACC and are the package deal. UVA got VT in the ACC by what was essentially an executive order after the Governor of VA made them do it. Duke's interests just mostly align with what UNC and UVA want. When it comes down to it, Duke is basically just a small basketball school within UNC's market. Duke would be worth a lot more to the SEC than it currently is to the ACC.
All that said, UVA (like UNC and Duke) has no interest in breaking up the ACC.
