Misleading thread title is misleading. He would be an idiot to go to GA State....

Hopefully. Maybe we can find someone who won't give us the worst red zone defense in the league.

I'd be surprised if he took that, I've always thought that when he left us it would be for another NFL job but idk.

I don't know whether to say oh no or please.

Honestly, if he left and Van Gorder got the DC job, it wouldn't be awful.
And, it would explain the move to bring him on staff.

The defense was the bests part of the team. They showed improvement throughout the year.

Van Gorder hasn't been very good since he left.

And his system doesn't fit our players.

No it would not be awful, it would absolutely terrible. His record since leaving UGA is where awful would apply.

That is all we need at this point.

You have got to be an alter. That is the dumbest thing I have read on here this season. Yes it would be awful. Tucker has done a solid job this year. There were going to be growing pains and we're through most of them. Now you say it won't be awful if we replaced him with Porn Stache who had been a failure ever since he left UGA. The guy refuses to recruit, got fired at ND which saw huge gains after he left, not to mention he runs a 4-3 defense so we'd have to switch it over again. Just stupid.

If Tucker leaves i'd rather us see if Charlie Strong wants to be a DC again

Agree with this. Our redzone defense has not been good but overall our defense have been much better than our offense and special teams.

As much as I miss the old zone blitz 4-3 we used to run with BVG, and I do believe we could still run that scheme effectively with our current players, I was fine with Smart and Tucker's defense this year.
With the players we have coming back, I'm hoping that we'll see them play more aggressively, be more distuptive, and make some damn stops in scoring range.

Red zone defense finished at 127th in FBS. Overall defense was in the top 20.

Yep, I have mentioned this before. The disparity is explained by poor field position caused by lack of offense and crappy special teams. Still, there is a significant problem when teams score TD's almost every time they get in your redzone. That last GT touchdown was typical of our redzone defense. We were good position to stop them at 3rd and goal from the 6. Johnson called a trick pass play that was covered and then Searcy improvised and just ran up the middle and dove to score the TD. We had a LB in position to make the play and he simply didn't make the tackle. Fans can put it on the coaches all they want but players have to make plays to win games.
