That was a corny but touching piece. I know those two worked together for a long time and developed a bond and it sounded like Loran wanted to honor his friend.

I enjoyed it

Loran Smith's letter to Larry Munson post-LSU quote: Tradition or not...Loran would not be there if not for Momma and Daddy... well frick me, that is the best tradition at UGA....most UGA Alumni, fans and supporters are all of those because Mama and Daddy...I know I wouldn't be a Dawg were it not for listening to Munson call the games with my father. If you aren't a fan of Larry Munson and Loran Smith you ain't a DAWG.. You may be a supporter of UGA but you ain't a DAWG....

Being a fan of UGA due to parents can certainly be tradition. Getting a radio sideline gig and saying the obvious whilst not using the letter "r" because your family is a huge donor is not really tradition. Perhaps his schtick grew on us over the years and we just accept his blurbs, but he would not have that gig if it wee based on his radio merits. My understanding was that he and Mr Munson were not all that close and I will leave it at that... I guess I am just not a real fan*....

Your dad and my mom were there about the same time. I am a third generation dawg and my daughter is 4th generation.

There are two that stand heads above the crowd when it comes to riding the UGA gravytrain. Have to admit that just as Vince Dooley was about to lap the field here comes Loran with this piece of selfserving drivel.
