I watched the D Line very very closely especially after we started giving up so many rushing yards right up the gut, and really in any game where the opponent wasn't a D2 school or just a nobody team, he got handled pretty well one on one. Not saying that it was his fault, I'm starting to think that CRG was a pretty shitty coach his last few years here.

I watched Geathers specifically every time he subbed for Jenkins. Geathers actually drew two blocks. He was manhandled per se, because two guys were blocking him. That's the whole idea for a NT in a 3-4.

Jenkins, on the other hand, didn't command two blocks. Against most teams, one block from the shoulder pushed his center of gravity off just enough to make him useless for the 2 seconds it takes for a play to develop. I've read here that it's because he was playing too high, I never had that angle, but it makes sense to me, and pursuant to your point, Garner's fault.

Let me put it this way.

If Geathers had stayed, like he said he was in December, there would be no question in my mind that UGA would have a top ten defense in 2013.

ETA: Geathers in a 4-3, he'd be an all-american DT.

If you go back and watch the Bama game, they consistently had leverage on us and as a result all of our linemen were 2-4 yards downfield getting in the way of our LBs. That game really exposed our bad coaching on the line, which is why I really don't mind that he left, plus it will help us in recruiting in the long run.

I really don't know why he wanted to leave so bad, I don't see him going early at all, maybe 4th round. Not like his family needs the money, doesn't he have a brother or 2 still playing?

4 of 5 of Bama's OL are going to be drafted in the first 3 rounds. That really is an NFL offensive line, literally. You've got to give credit where it's due.

Most of Bama's running yards came in the 3rd quarter when they were playing from behind, and CTG was trying to shut down the AJ McCarron show that he put on against LSU.

Definitely, I don't know who the best OL is in CFB history but that group has got to be up there, they just dominated every time out.

It got to the point when we were selling out on the run and still couldn't get to the ball carrier no sooner than 5 yards past the line of scrimmage. I think there was a drive or 2 where they didn't even throw the ball

You didnt watch the games close enough. The weakness on the defense against bama was at the linebacker spot. We only have 2 to 3 DL out there. Bama was running a tight end and hback along with their 5 OL. Blaming the 3 DL for not eating up 7 blockers may be the stupidest thing ive readon here in a long time.

Jenkins was dominant at the NT in 2011. He played more DE and DT (nickel) this season. And he did it well. But he was more of a difference maker for the team at NT than DE (he could pursue plays on the backside, but he didnt catch them until 5-6 yards downfield. Not quick enough to backside plays for little to no gain).

I thought you finally realized you were wrong about that. Oh well, some people just don't learn.

Justin Houston? I know he was a hybrid DE/OLB but he was a good one.
