Brown will probably settling up at DE in the 4-2-5. I see his body filling out to 6-3 in the 260-270 range.

What if Ganus, Amaechi, Smith, and/or Taylor are better?

they could be, who knows?

But MLB isn't like RB, where you can basically tell a talented freshman "here's the ball, run to the endzone". Outside of one of the safety spots the MLB pretty much has to know where everyone else is supposed to be, call out coverages, etc. There's a looot more to it than just can you tackle someone. It's that reason more than any that I think RC and TK will have a leg up from the get go, it has nothing to do with talent. Both of those guys know Pruitt's system better than any of the new guys, and have actually played SEC ball.

I get all that. I just said I wouldn't be shocked. Someone like Ganus has been a 3-year starter at the FBS level. It won't be any harder for him to pick up the calls than it was for Herrera or Wilson last year. Amaechi's here this spring too. Smith will contribute regardless in some capacity because he has a unique skillset in coverage.

I just think preemptively declaring Kimbrough and Carter the starters is way premature, especially when it was no secret that Pruitt didn't think much of the talent on campus when he arrived last season and has been so outspoken in saying he would play the best players. Nothing is guaranteed to those guys with two relatively experienced mid year newcomers.

This may be the most competitive offseason we've ever had for linebacker spots. We have some guys who are known quantities, but Pruitt will use this depth to test them severely to see who wants it most. Even with the loss of our starting ILB'ers, I'm very optimistic about what we'll see next season. I also wouldn't be shocked to see some guys transfer before fall camp.

Another plus, if our offense can function against this front 7, they'll be in good shape. The OL and RB's better buckle it up in fall camp.

Ganus is a serious contender and he wasn't brought in as a feel good story after UAB screwed him and the rest of the team. He is a very talented player and I expect him and Reggie Carter to be our starters. But JMO and I could be wrong
