We're not operating in a bubble here. If we hire Smart what's the best next move that Saban could play.....given he's going to be down one DC?

Yikes...
No doubt it is a possibility. But, hiring Smart might be the best chance we have of keeping Pruitt, too.

As I understand it, one of the conditions of Kirby being hired is that he retains Pruitt and vice verse. Pruitt isn't going anywhere; would be a lateral move at this point. He's not leaving unless we fir him or unless someone comes calling with a HC opportunity

Even before all this mess started, Bama fans have said that Mel Tucker was brought in this past year to one day replace Smart when he finally took a HC job. I'm not all that worried about Pruitt.

I am extremely upset over their decision and believe it will come back to haunt them. I am a dawg fan through and through and am hoping for a home run hire. But I will say that if it turns out to not be then I hope our team goes to bottom of barrel but only in hopes of getting rid of ADGM and getting someone in here that can give our coaches a fighting chance at winning championships.
I'm not necessarily agreeing with these guys but I f we get rid of a very good and consistent coach and end up getting someone worse or the same I will only be happy if we get rid of ADGM.

I don't think so. If we hire Smart, my guess is Saban will hire Pruitt as his DC. Pruitt wants to be a HC and who better to train under than Saban?
