He certainly was the lone bright spot, as a coordinator, for us during his tenure here.

Do what?

Are you forgetting about the 2014 debacles in Columbia and Jacksonville?
Completely shite the bed vs 2 unranked and very poor offenses.

Bama,UF and UT in '15?

Kirby thought it wise to bring him in as DC at some point, I'd certainly be excited

Kirby wouldn't go near Pruitt.
He's boarderline special needs except for CFB X's and O's

Jeremy Pruitt at UGA:

"His 2014 defensive unit finished 17th nationally in total defense, and finished in the top ten in turnover margin and passing yards allowed. Pruitt's 2015 unit at Georgia finished the season ranked seventh nationally in total defense, and led the nation in fewest passing yards allowed per game."

In 2015, he was coaching across from, possibly, the worst hire of Mark Richt's tenure. I say possibly, but Brian Schottenheimer was fricking garbage.

Pruitt took over a defense that Grantham had left in shambles in 2014. He improved that squad by leaps and bounds over the previous season. Chicken shite to chicken salad.

I've acknowledged this, which is why I qualified my comment with "if", but you knew that.

I suspect that some here may hold a deep grudge against Pruitt for how he bucked against Richt.

frick, man, somebody needed to.

I stand by the quoted comment.

Grantham still better. Unless you want to compare a guy's best year against another guy's worst year, which is what we call cheery [sic] picking.

Check Pruitts stats vs ranked opponents.
He basically played the world's softest schedule in 2015. 10 win season and all of them were arse.

Pass numbers always look great for a defense that can't stop the run (and a defense that plays against gus malzahn, Paul Johnson, and Georgia southern in the same year).

I that a pun? And I do like to cheery pick, especially if it helps my argument.

Oh, given a choice, I'm going with the guy who can stop the run consistently.

But, it seems we are all just cheery picking here.

I get what you are saying about Tech, Southern, etc but we could pick apart a lot of Kirby's years as a DC, I'm sure, if we started nit picking.

I guess our view of Pruitt is all relative to what we feel.

By all accounts, Pruitt is a great defensive coordinator. He improved upon every defense that he ever helmed. From FSU to Alabama.

I'm not sitting here worshipping Pruitt. I've grown to despise the man since his tenure here. With everything that we now know about him, turns out he really did fit in with the hillbillies of UT. He's a fricking idiot with, perhaps, an extra chromosome.

But, I'm not gonna reshape my opinion of his ability based upon his being an a-hole or an idiot as a head coach.

You can call it cherry picking stats.

You used conference rank (vs pass and scoring defense).
I am too. I am just ranking the stats against good opponents (ranking against the rest of the SEC playing good opponents).
We had a Charmin soft schedule in 2015. 10 wins and none of them worth a damn supports that. There are several reasons why the pass stats look good. It isn't a bad thing to pull back the covers and review context.

The part that pisses me off about Pruitt is the crappy performances against bad offenses though. Florida. South Carolina. Kentucky. Tennessee. Either the pass defense or the run defense was worthless in those games. We were more talented than those teams.

If I remember the articles correctly back in the day, He not only clashed with Mark Richt but he also undermined him, fought with him (at CMR’s home), and put the whole University in a bad position (speaking to the press) saying a practice facility was going to be built before it was approve and/or funded. Not to mention bad mouthing CMR to the boosters.

CKS was right to let him go. You can’t trust that kind of behavior.

I just remember a lot of drama there at the end.
