In a few years, I suspect Gurley's college career will be most remembered for his part in turning the tide of public opinion against the NCAA's concept of amateurism irreversably.

Well yeah, i hate it for him too. The worst punishment is knowing you couldve prevented the one thing that frickedya the most. On the flip side its a learning experience and hopefully hes a better person because of it. One things for sure though, while he may not be the best dawg hes still a DGD.

Every top player in CFB gets some cash from someone. But nearly all of them take the money quietly and it never gets known publicly. Some, like Manziel, flaunted it but got away with it because he denied taking cash and nothing got proven. Winston might get away with it too.
Todd should have kept out of the video and then saying he took no money would have ended it.

Oh god how UGA would that be...
A lot of good it would do us this year.

Yea hopefully it teaches him not to trust anyone. Right now he stands to lose college eligibility. Next year it'll be tons of cash at stake if he lets similar people take advantage of him.

Right or wrong, this is pretty much the way I see it. What's amazing to me is that we did not have a specific mentor for the best player on our team advising Gurley against doing anything like this. I can only conclude that scholarship players regardless of their status are pretty much free to do as they please outside the football program and that freedom requires discipline and responsibility that too often young players are not able to live up to.

Has nothing to do with UGA. He's just the first athlete I can think of who was caught up in an impermissible benefits case and had the public and media be on his side. Usually those guys are treated as outcasts. With him, it's the opposite.

Oh I know it has nothing to do with UGA. I just mean to have our best player since herschel and instead of his legacy being a heisman/SEC championship/national championship, it would be this. Kinda the 'close but no cigar' feeling all over again

Does it take the wind out of the team sails or do they continue with the same fierceness?

I actually think the team would be alright. I wouldn't have said that before but these last 2 weeks have shown me a lot about their mental fortitude and the leadership in the locker room.

We're a good team, but with Gurley we're something special IMO.
Every great team has a superstar. Gurley is/was that.

I meant from a mental standpoint I think the team will be ok. Definitely not suggesting that we wouldn't miss his presence on the field talent-wise though. He adds something no one else can.

I'm 100% behind Gurley and I'm 100% in favor of breaking bad rules. I enjoy marijuana, premarital sex and driving too fast (and all three at the same time). frick all stupid rules and all stupid people who say "rules are rules".
Go Dawgs. Free Gurley.
As for Bryan Allen, every Dawg fan should treat him like walking ebola but there is no reason for violence. Allen has already screwed himself and the bad karma is killing the Gators.
