Its best to avoid Zaxbys in situations likes these, lest the diarrhea hits while stuck in a traffic jam. EVAC 101.

Coastal Georgia still chilling out and waiting to see what storm does. Did SC politicians jump the gun?

After last October, they aren't taking chances. Water tables are still high here, so even heavy rains can/will lead to major problems. The Columbia Canal, which provides all the drinking water for Columbia is still not totally repaired from when it collapsed. It's the smart thing to do, in my opinion.

My friend is an anesthesiologist at MUSC and he's just loading up on supplies and staying. Worst case, he's just 2 blocks from the hospital and he'll hole up there.

You're on Sullivan's, no?

Still have the Sullivan's place but I live down town now. It got nailed in the floods. I'm sure most MUSC folks are staying. They will be busy.

Wonder if Georgia State game could get bumped to noon and play our game in the Dome at regular time?

This just came from USC WEATHER STATEMENT: The University of South Carolina and the athletics department are currently monitoring the movements of Hurricane Matthew. We are in communication with the National Weather Service, local authorities and the SEC regarding potential weather issues. The safety of everyone that could be impacted by this storm is paramount. Once forecasts call for action, we will use all means necessary to inform the public. Kickoff for the USC football game vs. Georgia is slated for 7:30 pm Saturday at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia.

Well, good luck to you. The peninsula is a wicked place when everyone hits the roads at the same time. I'm talking on a group text with some friends here in town and everyone's guest rooms have already been filled. No hotels really left in Columbia.

They're even closing the schools in Cola for the rest of the week. Makes no sense since it'll be 80 and sunny the next two days.

I heard they may be using the buses to move people around?

The kids are pumped.

I'm definitely hitting the liquor store on the way home. Now we'll have all the coastal evacuees up here dirtying up the place.

I'm lucky. I have places to go, insurance, and means to leave. I'll be fine. The evac on 26 is going to be epic suck for people. My bay boat is already en route on 95 South.

AJC was talking about possibly doing the game at the Dome on Friday night. How bizarre would that be?

This is lunacy.

Politicians over-reacting because they saw what media did to politicians after Katrina.

There's also some speculation that Ga State will play their game at noon and we'll play at 7:30.

They're reversing the highways so it'll be a cluster.

I can't remember who it was - but wasn't it a SC governor that got crucified because the interstates didn't get reversed and people were stranded for hours trying to get out? They had to resort to drinking their own urine and Donner party type survial tactics....

I can't remember if that was here or in GA...

I remember evacuating from Hurricane Brett sometime around 1999. It took 11 hours to get from Corpus Christi to San Antonio and I-37 was not reversed. Being a 10 year old in that situation was not ideal. Being the parents of a 10 year old in that situation was probably worse.
