Why are we doing most of our runs out of shotgun last night? We hardly lined up in the I or power formation for running plays. The play action from those formations tend to burn the def more so than the play action from the shotty.

Plus the biggest thing I want to see that can happen w/ those power running formations is the usage of our freaking TE's. How often do we keep hearing about our TEs and how deep we are, only to see them as a unit get like 3-5 passes.

Do our TE's just suck that bad and our beat reporters are just over hyping them?

This 100%. The game would've been a lot more one sided without them. We would've embarrassed ND

On 3rd down? When? I recall I pass went to Chubb for a loss (wasn't a screen) and another that went to Swift.

Play calling is limited by the OL and freshman QB.
It is only going to get better as they build experience.

That's what we all thought the first half of last season. It didn't get better. But it does seem like we now have a QB with enough brains to grasp the system, so maybe this time it'll really get better.

I think we tried a screen on third down on our 2nd possession. And our last possession of the 3rd quarter.

OL should get better as the season progresses.
And I am more optimistic about the qb situation (sophomore QB or a freshman QB that fits the coaches son mentality)

Well, that was the screen I pointed to where Sony slipped.
Would have gone for a huge gain.

We should have tried it at least a couple of more times especially with all our 3rd down failures. Also takes pressure off Fromm

We tried and failed twice.

The problem with failing on third down is that you don't get more tries after that.

Are you saying that the odds were we would convert the third time because Notre Dame would have ignored our backfield (who touched the ball once every 2 plays)?

Good God,are you really this obtuse?? The play was obviously there and Sony slipped.Stop with the "play failed"narrative.

We were 4 for 14 on 3rd down conversions.

Im saying we should have tried
more times than once ESPECIALLY in the 1st half.

So you really we were having success with our other 3rd down plays with a 4 for 14 success rate???

Did the play to Sony work or no? Even without the slip, there is no guarantee of a first down. Notre Dame did a good job flying to the ball Saturday night. Did you not see that?

I agree that getting them the ball more is a good thing. But the joke on you is how much more. There is an obvious law of diminishing return. 6 more touches a piece for Chubb and Sony would not have turned out well when our backfield was already the sole focus of the Notre Dame defense. They were in our backfield enough that we had to draw up a substantial amount of plays to keep them at bay (6 tackles for loss). Not more plays to keep them in the backfield.

Yea,great response.Just look at the freakin replay and STFU about yes or no answers.

What?Law of diminishing returns?
Don't you think 4-14 is a pretty
bad as far "diminishing returns" go? Notice you still havent addressed the issue.

Once again, ND was continuously blitzing and putting pressure on 3rd and and long situations ESPECIALLY in the 1st half.Do you not understand that a screen pass wouldve disrupted their pressure? Especially with a QB making his 1st starts on the road.

I'll take my chances with Sony and that much open field with multiple blockers. I think I can say he makes that first down without the slip.

speaking of facts, did you hear that 3 lineman from last years team were invited to NFL camps and one made a NFL team? Two of those guys were pre season ALL SEC. Also, a guy who played OG last year is now a second team all sec LT, but he played OG last year because a guy who made an NFL team off the line last year should have played OG, but we didn't have anyone on the roster who could play OT because of the motherfricker Mark Richt leaving us with literally no talent on the line... make sense?

Good fact. Camps include 2,880 players and give flyers on players with injury histories, criminal histories, rejects from multiple other teams, etc..

So long as you don't piss off your mama by kneeling for the national anthem, most players with the NFL size will be given a tryout.

I'm not sure what your point is about Wynn. He was a high recruit (about the only one). He's got good feet. Does well against a speed outside rush. I hope he does great this year. He was undersized for guard last season. But too good to keep off the field. No?
I don't want to assume your point, so make it on Wynn.

Incomplete pass to Sony in the first quarter. No?

If I'm wrong, I will say I'm wrong. But I remember a screen in our second possession.
