Let me preface by saying that I'm not trying to stir up anything that might not be true and you certainly don't have to believe me but here it goes.

I was talking with a couple of players on the defensive side of the ball this morning and they said that Pruitt is gone, exact quote was, "They're getting rid of Pruitt too", which was shortly followed by "frick McGarity". They said that's why all the #KeepPruitt was going on last night on Twitter. They were pretty upset about it, referring to how good the defense was this season and how it would be stupid to get rid of him.

I really hope that this isn't true but I figured I heard this from good enough sources to bring it here for discussion. Also I'm pretty sure that the players are meeting with McGarity at some point today to voice their concerns, so I'm sure they'll be fighting for him to stay.

Yeah let's hope this doesn't happen.

Didn't Pruitt get a raise and extension this year? Is he guaranteed money?

This might mean that they are hiring Kirby Smart and that Pruitt will be the new DC for Alabama.

If literally everyone involved with the program wants Pruitt to stay, and McGarity doesn't make it happen, there definitely should be backlash. Especially if the rumors are true that Smart wants the job but only if he gets to keep Pruitt.

Did it ever occur to anyone that maybe he doesn't want to stay?

You don't get rid of coordinators and position coaches when a HC is fired. The new coach gives them an opportunity to interview and he makes those decisions.

Players are emotional and, quite frankly, the last to ever know anything. Wouldn't believe this until you see that he's officially gone

He was quoted after the tech game saying he wanted to stay at UGA.

Go back to condemning the entire UGA fanbase as "unready for success".

The only way to stay sane is to just not believe anything until it is announced. Way too much shite floating in the wind these days.

You know it's bad when a reddit post is being passed around as a "report".

That's pretty much my line of thinking, but it was interesting to hear them say what they did with such conviction. The next few weeks will be interesting to say the least.

I've known plenty of players over the years. They typically are as knee-jerk in their reactions as we fans are. Part of it's because they're just young adults, part because they've been conditioned to only focus on what's just in front of them, part because they are purposefully kept out of the loop on a lot of the administrative/political stuff; it's just distracting and noise that they don't need to be privy to.

ETA: Don't be surprised if a lot of their info came from the internet or people tweeting or texting them that they heard Pruitt was gone.

If he gets a HC offer or big pay bump offer that we won't match then he's absolutely gone. If he doesn't like our head coach hire he is gone. It sounds like he already is at odds with administration due to personality conflicts.

I would like him to stay but the reality is he may not want to. Sure he was quoted with the above but he has to say that - its how the game is played

The decline is real.
