Paul George would help but as long as LeBron is still playing at a high level, it'll be tough

Hope Schroeder becomes Chris Paul
Hope Prince becomes Kawhai Leonard
Hope Millsap and Howard stay at their current level into their mid 30s

Then trade for a bench

I don't know. And unfortunately, I don't think Coach Bud does, either.

Agreed. Also seems plausible. They are both young and have a lot of potential and a lot to learn.

plausible is strong. Those are top 5 players at their positions. It's very unlikely that they turn into top 5 players

Ever since they jettisoned Ferry then have been sliding into the NBA limbo (good enough to just miss the playoffs or make it and lose R1, but not bad enough to score in the lotto). A team can stay in limbo for decades and we have.

The solution? Hire a very good GM.

This is how the hawks were with ferry. Not good enough to Win the NBA title, and not bad enough to draft a future all NBA guy.

He turned them around pretty good and definitely had them on an upward trajectory. Since he left, they have been going in reverse.

The hawks need to tank out or they will stay exactly where they are. You arent going to draft a program changer in the mid to late 20s. Making the playoffs every year in a horrible EC is damaging to the program at this point

Maybe not a NBA title, but they can probably win a rec league trophy.

I'm not even a Hawks fan really, but this is so dumb. They're tied 2-2 with a team some people think are going to win the East in the Wiz, and I'd argue the Hawks have been the more impressive team so far.

I do think they're stuck in a tough place, but I would guess they've been one of the top 3 teams in the East over the last 5 years combined.

I know you're not new to this board

They've been more impressive in terms of getting production out of players not named Dennis, Paul, and Dwight (not that they haven't been producing, just nice to find other scorers). They're not relying on one or two players to carry them every possession like the Wiz have been with JW.

I'm interested to see how Dwight responds back in DC tonight. He looked....for lack of a better term...disinterested the first two games. Hope he brings some energy and a toughness that he'll need in order to match Gortat.

Game 5 was frustrating. Winnable game just didn't make the shots we needed

I do not understand how Gortat gets away with such blatant moving picks.

Jimmy Butler the small forward from the Bulls would be a start.
