He'll make millions in less than 6 months. She's made it this long, couldn't she hold out a little longer?

And I find it very hard to believe there is no family or friend to the Gurley family that could help them out in the meantime to maybe get on a future millionaire's good side.

Another angle to consider: he's got a brother in prison, right? Other prisoners would know Todd's about to be in the money. Not like they'd be above leaning on his brother for a little advance payment or anything....

Did anyone watch the Peyton Manning special on ESPN? That dude cared about college football. His generation is the last to actually care about the game. These days, every school is Auburn on some level. It's honestly disgusting.

It's indicative of the times. I don't think that people or their loyalties have changed- there's just so much money to be made off of the spectacle of the sport itself as well as the orbiting cloud of mass and social media. None of our heroes (sports or otherwise) could've maintained their saintly status today. The media used to be complicit in sports and politics when it came to personal matters - assuming that it was more important that these gods among remain above the fray. If anything, college football is just a reflection of the culture surrounding it.

tl/dr frick Auburn

I'm developing a theory that perhaps Gurley is using the NCAA violations to pull himself out of the game & protect his NFL career.

This is a stupid theory. Winning the Heisman is worth millions with endorsements and memorabelia whores. Kid just fricked up big time.

The greed march towards expansion, play-offs, and all the rest of the bullshite like this......are ruining it.

And yeah let's stay the way of the NCAA profiting from a players name while the players get nothing.

You act like this is new and it isn't. Going to the old way will only lead to more players getting punished. The ones who don't give a shite still won't give a shite no matter what

I don't even know what you're talking about.

Regardless, I'm sure that you will dance on the grave of College Football once you get your 16-team play-off and Massachusetts and Ball State are in the SEC north........

Funny part is you won't even know it's dead.

I agree that this doesn't hold water because he's been totin' the rock with a purpose - no signs of him holding back on the field

Finley is absolutely correct. The college game has evolved into a mini NFL in a sense. It's no longer played for "Love of the Game" ... now it's all about money. This makes two sports that I grew up loving, become something I barely recognize any more.

I think I got it.

Took time for the Dawgs to understand the new NCAA mindset & rulebook & how to get around the "lack of institutional control" issue & then getting a pissed off Todd Gurley to commit to the process and cone back. 1 game suspension.

GET SOME

I'm certain there is more to the story. I kinda like Jefferson's "Time Travel Theory" ... it may be more believable than some of the other horseshite we've been hearing.
