Seriously, why would Gurley need an agent? He's a known commodity that shouldn't need to be sold to to a team in order to make money. I would guess that all he needs is a good contracts attorney (which he'll also need anyway) to negotiate terms.

Because the job of an agent goes beyond negotiating be terms of a contract. They have relationships in the industry that are invaluable in terms of endorsements, free agency, etc..
