Kids can still go to Gainseville State, make a 3.5 gpa for a year, score decently on the Compass exam, and transfer in. It's easier to go that route.

You basically demonstrate that you can be a 19 year old no longer living under your parents' roof and maintain a level of dedication to make good grades without direct adult supervision, thus UGA admissions determines you will be a successful college student.

These transfers track very well through UGA which is why UGA takes them with lower standards than the fresh-out-of-HS kids.

basically what i did, except it took me 3 years at Gainesville ( now N. Ga) because my first semester i made 3 C's and F. Got GPA back up and transferred over with a 2.8 I think. Graduated UGA with a final GPA of 3.35.

Helped me save a shite load of money, too.

So you had a 4.0 gpa and a 1400 SAT, but it's nullified by your shitty instincts plight?

Exactly.

In addition to that there are more SAT prep options today and they're pretty good too. I have my first two at UGA now (entering Sophomore and Freshman year). We rode their arse all through HS even though they're talented and smart and had them take SAT prep. They also take it several times and do a composite score of highest score for each SAT component.

Even after that it was an uneasy feeling would if they would make the cut because it was not a slam dunk. There was no way they'd make the early admission cut... it's even more competitive.
