I am amazed control freak Probst didn't tell the kid and parents to just not even talk about it with anyone. period.

The head of GHSA is from Thomasville, played there, and coached there, Albany and Warner Robins.

If the kids parents would have kept their mouths shut instead of giving an interview to ESPN, then the kid would been playing now ... if he recovers from the injury he sustained a few weeks back.

How is California at fault here?

They are the ones that caused the situation by not having football.

Ummmmmm....no? I happen to know the President of the GHSA personally, and very well. He went to high school school in North Georgia and was born and raised n Georgia. I know Mr. White to be a man of integrity and fairness.

If the parent and child reside in the community what is the argument for barring the kid from playing HS football? I don't get it. Shouldn't the GHSA head work for the betterment of high school football in Georgia?

It's to keep people from just jumping school to school. The entire family has to move.

I'm no fan of Rush Propst, but there has to be a difference between moving within Atlanta or even the state versus moving across the country.

I could understand if Garcia was jumping from one Georgia school to another. The rule was made to protect the weaker Georgia programs. The way I look at it is California's loss is Georgia's gain. If the Valdosta coach wasn't Rush Propst maybe the ruling would be different.

Why should the rules be different for someone from out of state? And again, he was found eligible before the interview where his dad said they only separated so that his son would be eligible.

That's right. A couple of area schools filed complaints. GHSA had to rule him ineligible, they had no choice.

I'm surprised this doesn't happen more often especially in Cobb and Gwinnett.

GHSA aside, there’s no way I’m ever divorcing my wife (even temporarily) for my son to play football. There is such a thing as priorities.

Also, he already has a scholarship to USC, so it’s not like it’s his last chance ever to play.

Seems they should have gotten a ruling before they spent all the money to do this. Can you imagine, lawyer fees, moving costs, apartment costs, then denied.

I do think the hypocrisy of all this is they still let private schools recruit and the players play even after being poached from public schools. IMG, Mater Dei, Bishop Gorman, Brentwood Academy etc... All just pick and choose whi they want. IMGs qb moved down from Illinois for the same reason as Garcia.
