Jeff Schultz sniffing his own farts

quote:

Me: (Approaching, trying to form first question, which never got out.)

McGarity: “Hey, Jeff. See you later.”

Me: “Can you say …”

McGarity: “No.”

Me: “At some point, are you going to …”

McGarity: “I’m going home.”

So I guess he didn’t want to hang.

quote:

So McGarity said nothing. He briefly shook Richt’s hand on the field after the game, then darted for the exit. Georgia’s coach of 15 years was left to twist in the wind.

quote:

As for Richt, we’re not sure what it all meant. But it certainly didn’t feel like a celebration.

Say nothing and you let the biggest Tech-leaning dickhead columnist at the biggest newspaper in your state write the narrative. Or, say something (literally anything) and you gain control of the situation by setting it in the direction you want it to go.

Maybe he's not talking because he's the one who is out. Hmmm...

In the email, note - email-, he played in to Schultz's hand by allowing speculation. Not responding to an email and Schultz may just forget it. He didn't have to respond because he's the athletic director and we hope he has better shite to do. I don't think Schultz takes an ignored email and runs with it.

So you're saying McGarity is struggling in the PR department? No, couldn't be possible. Never.

Than respond with a prepared statement on exactly what the deal is to an email or question from a long-tenured columnist at the AJC with a reputation for being anti-UGA? No, I think that's exactly what the Athletic Director should be doing; do what he can to control the PR and perception of the Athletics side of the University to the best of his ability. What he's doing now is stubborn and stupid; you know where you stand with Richt so either make a move or don't. Either way, have something ready to feed the media so we're not spending the next week having more articles written about what a mess the program is and more hit pieces being put out on 680 and 790. In other words, do your fricking job as AD of UGA

Absolutely. The longer this goes on, the more divided and dysfunctional the boardroom is right now.

Schultz wouldn't forget but it would give him less to write about.

LSU's AD put their rumors to sleep.

LSU cleaned their shite up fast, so either someone is getting canned or UGA needs to get their shite together

The thing to do is have the PR people contact Shultz with a prepared statement supporting Richt and simply stating that an end of year meeting will happen soon, as it does every year.

they should have never waited this long just to say Miles remains.

if LSU didn't have that one game cancelled, they would be looking at a 9 win regular season and a possible 10 win season..

I would think this would be standard practice by now.

Lots of people here are very critical of Alleva's handling of Les Miles.

If he wanted to fire him he should have still stood behind him until he fired him. The idea that letting the rumor mill grow is good is a mistake McGarity should avoid.

A lot of people believe Alleva wanted Fisher and when he couldn't get him decided to stay with Les. Truth is that is it became very apparent Les has a lot of support and should firing him turn out bad it would all be the AD's fault.

CMR is McGarity's man now that he has given him the raises he has given him. He needs to quickly and publicly stand behind him or quickly and publicly fire him

My suspicion is he is talking to other coaches to see if he can name a new one as soon as he fires CMR. Patterson or Smart would be the top choices I think.
