Yeah, I was gonna make a joke in the burrito thread and name his restaurant and had to Google it and found his obit. Maybe some of his buddies knew it and didn't pass it on or I missed it.

That fricking sucks. I got to know him a little personally. I went to Tortilla Bay on our 137th trip to the Outback Bowl and hung out with him at the game too. He was actually a really nice guy when he wasn't pissing people off on the ODR. I can only speculate as to what led to his demise...

His last posts on either of his fb pages were December 27th. And he never mentioned being sick or anything. It must have been something sudden.

I went onto one of the websites that had his obituary. I was shocked at how affectionately people spoke of him, based on my perception of him and his ODR personality.

Can someone please summarize what happened when he blew up and left the ODR? I know he was going back and forth with someone and his personal information got exposed. He had a tantrum and left the Rant.

He was back on here long after any of that. Not typically posting as himself....
That said, I had no idea this had happened. Perry was a straight up dude. I never got the chance to meet him in person, but he never said or did anything in any of our "off-board" conversations that led me to believe he was anything other than a genuinely good guy.
No joke, back on the ODR where I was an admin, he once thanked me for reinstating his posting privileges (after SBJ revoked them in one of his temper tantrums) by offering to buy me a gift as a token of his appreciation. I thought he was kidding. I declined, but he insisted and eventually I told him if anything, my son really wants a Nintendo DS. He asked what color and for my mailing address and I said black is fine (really expecting nothing). Two days later, a brand new DS showed up at the door.
Sad to read this today. Whatever you thought of him here, GATA was truly a DGD.

It took us 3 years to figure out we knew each other in the real world. He had one of the best white man Afros. He was full speed.

He posted a lot of info about himself that a simple google search would tell you the rest...
I just posted a menu item and his first name and he went beserk.
This was just his outlet to act like an arse, like most that post on message boards. Although you could tell he had some issues, we had made amends and all was good. I hate he has passed. Apparently it was sudden.

Based on his final FB post, it wasn't expected. He was looking forward to a pretty great 2015. Sadly, he never saw it.
