Were you alive for third on the 8? I was.

Dooley caught lightning in a bottle for four years.

All my adult life I've watched GA try to catch it again.

The simple truth is Richt is not smart enough to win big. He does not have the ability to innovate or counter-attack.

There is an element of the GA fan base that is content with top 20 finishes. As a child I was too. Now, not so much. I lived the 4 years of dominance. I lived the absolute mastery of UF. I will never be content with Richt. He just doesn't have it. It has nothing to do with Richt's faith.

I was at the Game in 1980. I was in Jax. I loved the early 80's. But Dooley was not a great coach. He had Herschel and Erk. That was it. Of course I would love to win NC and be the dominant program. People forget. That Dooley lost the Big game twice they only remember 81 Sugar bowl and forget how he grasped defeat from the Jaws of victory in the 82 & 83 Sugars. How long did it take Dooley to get lucky by the way? How about Bowden, Osborne, Paterno. Sometimes you get the flash in a pan (Chizick). Sometimes you run off the leader of the program (Fulmer) and then flounder in your own waste. Rarely if never has a program ran off its winningest coach, most successful run, to HOPEFULLY find lighting.
Show me the hire you can guarantee a NC with, that will come. Saban is the only Guantee. He ain't coming.

No its not, not when UGA should be wanting more than just a taste of sugar. They should want a damn NC.

I agree. And I want a National Championship. but do you think if you fire Richt the next coach will automatically bring one? Who is out there that would be willing to come to Georgia that could beat Saban, or Miles? Who would you hire? Simple question. You can't just go out there and start firing people that has brought success to your school, because they don't bring National Championships to your school exactly when YOU want it.

How many did Dooley win at Georgia?
Dooley had a 7-10 Bowl record while at Georgiawith ONE National Championship. That Championship came in year 16 he was at Georgia.
He finished in the top 10 7 times while he was at Georgia 24 years. he had a 3-5 record in major Bowls (Cotton, Sugar)

Now, Richt has been at Georgia for 12 years. He has a 8-4 Bowl record. he has a 2-1 record in major Bowls (Sugar) and 0 National Championships.
Richt coached teams have been ranked in the top 10, 7 years. So, in half the years Richt has finished in the Top 10 as many times as Dooley was in 24.

Richt has matched one of the greatest all time coaches in Georgia history...man...if you guys had your way, you would have run Dooley off.

How about giving some thought before you post.

You are right. but firing Richt and hoping we can get a good coach is the best way to return to the Donnan and Goff days. Take a look at my comparison of Richt and Dooley's records.

Where are you getting this? I can show you quotes where they say otherwise. You do know we had coaches not on the level of Strong and Petersen turn down Georgia before we hired Donnan, don't you?

You are REALLY comparing Richt to Zook? You are living in a fantasy world. I would imagine the sky is purple in your world.

Again, here is a comparison of Richt and Dooley:

Dooley Richt
Top 10 finishes 7 7
(Coaches poll)
National Championships 1 0
Bowl record 7-10 8-4
Major Bowl record 3-5 2-1
Years coached 24 12

You would fire Dooley, I would guess.

You still dont seem to understand were talking about CMR not Murray, Dooley or anyone else, so why do you keep throwing others in this? Do you not read very well? Pls tell me. Again as I have already said for the 4th time, I dont know who they could get and neither do you. But they could and should get someone, they have the money. Change is good sometimes and its been time to try it for awhile now

And you can't seem to understand that if you were on this board while Dooley were coaching you would be screaming that he can't win and should be fired. That we need someone else. I am simply pointing out how stupid you guys are getting.

You want a knee jerk reaction. Richt MIGHT be the most successful coach Georgia has ever had. (I haven't looked up any of the others, but certainly the most successful of anyone in our lifetime) Yet you are all screaming we need a change.

Change for change sakes is NEVER good. You don't have any idea who we could get...apparently don't care. We'll take anybody over Richt. So tell me. You don't know anybody we could get. You can't name anybody we could get that would be better than Richt......so....you just want anybody else no matter if they take the entire program down the toilet? I'm glad you aren't the Athletic Director.

Change you can believe in! Right?

Yeah. I do.

Does that sound like a man looking to leave? It has been reported that the only school he would leave Louisville for would be South Carolina. You think he wants to come to Georgia? if he wanted to gos somewhere, I would think it would be Tennessee. They have more titles and history than we do. but no...you don't really care who we get, as long as it isn't Mark Richt. Never mind that Richt is the most successful coach we've ever had. Fire him! Why? Well, because you want it!

winning a national title requires a lot of hard work, talent, coaching, and really good luck....2002, We are 7 points shy of a title shot, 2007 we are an unwritten rule from a title shot, 2012 we are 5 yards away from a title shot. I agree, that Richt needs to get tougher on his players, on his staff, and his decision making. But, I also don't want a coach that is a win at all cost coach. Sure, I would love for UGA to win a title, but do I want all the drama that surrounds a questionable coach in doing so? no.
