Defense isn't top flight but to say is he hasn't made much progress isn't correct.

They're one of the worst statistically in the league. They're like 29th in points allowed.

I don't think I'm stretching to say they suck right now. They're only bailed out by the fact that this offense is top 2 in the league with NE.

Truth. It's going to be hard to keep winning if we have to put up 35+ each game.

So you're clearly not paying attention then.

How about you actually watch the games instead of watching only stats.

Defense has had several garbage time TDs put on them this season. They aren't the 2000 Ravens, but they're better than they were last year. There appears to be a real live pass rush at times this season, and Jones and Campbell are so much faster than Worrilow and Stupar were last year. Lot of young players on that side of the ball.

I agree the pass rush has been improved. However that helps little when teams can throw 20 yard crossing routes at will in the next play because our pass coverage is hot garbage.

Y'all are taking a lot offense to me pointing out a flaw in this team

What, should I just say FALCONS R GREAT, SUPER BOWL BOUND?

No, but it's the insinuation that this defense isn't progressing and hasn't improved, which it clearly has. Under Smith we were old and bad on defense. Right now we're young and bad but clearly showing improvement. If you can't watch the games and see how this defense has progressed in certain areas of the game, then you really can't be helped.

The Falcons' defense has surprised me. There's some good new talent growing better.

Falcons ARE great, Falcons ARE going to the superbowl.

Unless Julio or Ryan get injured.

This defense is not elite but to those that say it hasn't improved is wrong.

LINK

The front 4: Babs is long in the tooth, needs an upgrade. Reed, Beasley, and Jarrett are solid.

Linebackers: Two rookies starting. Wheeler is solid depth but there are way better options for weakside especially considering playing alongside two rooks.

DBs: Trufant and Neal are studs. Two guys on the defense that will make impact plays. Alford is not a good 2nd corner. He should probably move to nickel or FS. Last and most definitely least Ricardo Allen fricking sucks.

For the year, they will improve but it's such a huge cap. They need several big upgrades for several positions.

Lets hope Trufant's shoulder injury is not too serious, that would seriously hurt losing one of the top CB's in the league. I believe Tevin Coleman should be back for the Philly game, I personally believe he's the birds best all around RB and outside of Julio the most explosive player the birds have on O. Gabriel is really starting to come on and has passed Hardy as the #3 WR.

I've had to argue with Falcons fans that Ryan was a good quarterback. Which absolutely blows my mind.

I always thought Matty Ice was like you, a good qb, but not an elite qb. My dad has been saying for years now that Ryan needs to go (too many fumbles, int's at the wrong time), but I've been telling him that our Oline sucks. Well this year they are much improved and Ryan is playing lights out. He is the best qb in the NFC and really on T Brady can compete with him.

I know everyone wants to say T Brady is the MVP, but I think that is a joke. Look at the Pats record without Brady, 3-1. If the Falcons lost M Ryan, our record would be 0-4 without him (if in the same scenario as the Pats).

Either way I could care less about those trophies, just as long as we can make it to and win the superbowl. I also was a big critic of M Ryans arm strength, and thought he had a good arm but not strong enough to fit it in those tight windows in the redzone. I think having a clean pocket to step into the throws is a huge deal for him and it is showing. **UGA fans, we need a clean pocket for Eason to step in the throws as well, as this will make him more accurate.**
