Damn.
Godspeed to Eric and his family. Was happy to see him get out of our hair and go to the NFL, but hate this kinda thing for anyone. Hope he kicks cancer's arse.

I'm not sure that can be beaten, only controlled. I hope I'm wrong.

Depends on the subtype and all that kind of stuff. Either way, best wishes to Berry, I really hate to hear it.

I have had stage IV Diffuse Large B Cell Lymphoma twice in 4 years. It is probably the most aggressive sub type of non hodgkins one can get. When it sets in, it grows to a large mass very quickly. From undetectable to the size of a baseball, or bigger in 3-4 months. My second time it went from undetectable to larger than a 20 oz soda bottle in 3 months. The rapid growth nature of Berrys makes it sound indicative of an aggressive sub type. Sounds worse but actually the aggressive sub types are also the curable sub types. It will depend on the state and overall health of his immune system in regards to whether the treatments are effective for him. Prior to the lymphoma, I enjoyed 40 years or relative good health except for the yearly cold. Never had the flu or anything like that in my life so I feel that my immune system was pretty strong pre-cancer. The actor who played the role of Spartacus in year one of the TV series had the same thing I had and died just 6 months after diagnosis. That guy was cut and chiseled and looked far more healthy than me for sure but it all boils down to ones immune system health. Eric can beat this if his body's immune system is strong.
The sub types that can only be controlled are small cell follicular types. People can live 15-30 years or more with that in some cases. But they are not curable. An aggressive sub type is all or nothing scenario. Either put it in remission leading to a possible cure or it will kill you quickly. I have faith that he will be on the positive stat side as I was.

Lymphoma has a 80% or higher survival rate if caught in stage 1-3.
