I'm guessing we're only seeing the first of the vacancies available in college coaching gigs. Maryland, USC, SC... the list is just beginning. May be harder to get a good one in here

I’m not here to agree or disagree about Richt’s future, but UGA is much more desirable than 2 of the 3 listed. USC has an argument, but they are a program in turmoil. IF, we all know it’s not going to happen, Richt was let go, UGA would have the pick of the litter.

If we wait for an offseason with no coaching turnover then we will never get one.

As much as I want change from the current high hopes/letdown trend we are on. Let's all go ahead and agree that mark is not going anywhere. There is no point in even speculating.

There are two schools in the SEC that may be a better job than USC and neither of them is UGA.

came here to say basically teh same thing.

Regardless of whether someone wants richt to stay or not, we aren't competing with maryland (LOL) or SC for coaches. And although USC is historically probably a better gig, as of this minute we are on an even plane at worst.

Schottenheimer goes to Cocks. He tutored under Spurrier, Spurrier puts in a good word- boom.

That never occurred to me but honestly it's not that far fetched. Does he have any interest in being a HC? I'm sure he made good money being an NFL OC and now with us, so I don't think he'd bolt just for a few extra bucks.

Maybe as a plan L, M, or O, but Schotty won't be plan A, B, or C for them. Everyone at USC knows that this hire is very important to their program. If they can land a top-notch coach then they could build on what Spurrier has done and really establish themselves for years to come in what is currently a very weak SEC East. If they are told no by their top guys, then all bets are off. I think they'd try to lure away Smart before they went with Schott, though.

They'll call Dantonio, Fuente, and Smart.

Dantonio will entertain it since he's an alum but I doubt he makes the move.

Fuente and Smart would probably jump at it if offered.

I hope it's Smart so we can see a sample of how great of an HC he will be.

No sarcasm, I'd be interested in that. I'm curious to see if the hype is real with him.

it could be real, there's absolutely no way of knowing.

However, I'd love it if they went after smart. Look at his resume. He hasn't done anythign in his whole entire career besides ride saban's coattails.

-2004: LSU DB coach
-2005: 1 season as UGA RB coach (I know, wtf..moving on)
-2006: 1 season as Safeties coach for the dolphins
-2007: DB coach for alabama
-2008 to present: Alabama DC

I mean he could be all world or be worse than dooley, there is no way to know. But Muschamp has a somewhat similar resume before taking over UF (a much better program with much better recruits) and outside of 1 season was pretty blah.

I would MUCh rather see SC get smart than one of the young up and coming HCs like herman, fuente, etc

nobody's gonna fire coach richt anytime soon. if anything it would happen after the regular season if things fell totally apart and there was some other shite involved..

Richt has only been in danger of being fired once and it hinged on the outcome of the 2011 season. We won 10 games adn teh division so obviously he was spared, the next year we were really frickin good, so there ya go.

I doubt he'll ever be in serious jeopardy unless we have multiple years in a row of being real bad.
