Sitting at home. Parents had flown out for a visit and I got to break the news to my dad in person. We were both pretty shocked.

I can’t even remember what year it is right now much less that.

Turning my phone notifications back on after watching Creed at the theater. Positively BLEW UP, as the story had broken while the movie was underway.

I dont remember.

But it immediately dawned on me that we were at his last home game.
The home overtime win against Georgia Southern where the eagles were driving about our 40 yard line almost in field goal range to steal a win with about 40 seconds left.

Instead of shock... i thought about losing to southern at home and understood.

I think it was on a Sunday and I was at home. I seem to recall there were reports and rumors that it was going to happen so I wasn't shocked. I think I recall not thinking that McGarity would pull the trigger. I think I was more surprised when Donnan got fired. The rumor was the big money donors made the decision for Richt after the Ga Southern OT win.

I was eating lunch at ocharleys after church. I remember thinking this is either going to get us that natty or we are fixing to be like Tennessee for the next 20 years.

Was more shocked when Donnan was fired.

We had finally settled on Gibbs as dc and he was improving our d drastically.

Goes to show, losing to tech will get you fired as will going to Overtime with Southern.

This is close to the truth. Richt was already expecting to be fired after the season. When Miami asked to talk with Richt McGarity told him he should take the job if offered. Richt and Miami were discussing numbers the off week before the Florida game.
