Ok big guy, whatever you say.
This would be like some 19 year old college student at tech who's only followed football a few years talking with a group of people about tech's biggest rival. Some might say "well I hate clemson the most, thos inbreds". Or another could say "I really can't stand FSU, those bastards". Yet another might say Miami. But despite their personal feelings and their hatred for certain schools, there is really only one right answer. They may refuse to acknowledge it, or deny that this is the case, but it is a fact, regardless of what they think.
Which is what we have here. It doesn't matter what you or I or any man thinks, UGA's biggest rival is it's biggest rival, it doesn't change simply based on what we think. It doesn't change by decade. It doesn't change based on the series record. If all that were true it wouldn't be our biggest rival. And that rival is tech. It has been since the 1890s and it still is today.
I think my analogy earlier was a good one that we go through different periods of time with a different arch nemesis. It was auburn/clemson, in the 90s it was uf/ut, now it's mainly florida and to a lesser degree SC (or maybe lsu/bama). But that doesn't change who our biggest rival is.

BY your logic, why is it Tech instead of Auburn?

We have more of an intense history of hatred with tech, we don't share a state with auburn, our fanbase and auburn's are extremely similar, etc.

Well played, sir. Didn't BYU ring up 41 on them? BYU couldn't score on 11 hookers in Vegas.

Auburn turned fire hoses on us.

It's what? 20 miles from the state line?

So??

Tonight's lineup vs. Georgia Southern
Meanwhile, why don't you run over there and get on Auburn's nuts.

You're being totally ignorant if you think that makes up for the century of hate we have with tech. Outside of 1986 and 2010, the UGA/AU rivalry has been more of a brotherly thing.
You wanna see real on field hate? Thanksgiving day, 1993.

Yeah, on the other side. It's in Alabama, it's not in Georgia. We share a state with tech, we don't with auburn.

So??
Sigh....SO it goes back to one of the main points I made at the end of my long post. Us and tech are almost polar opposites, we have completely different ways of life. That contributes to the hatred and to the rivalry overall.

The fire hoses were in like 1986... Is that a real long time ago for you?

I understand the past hatred for GT...but no school has cost us more SECC than the Barn...Tech game lost ALOT of meaning when they left the conference...I just don't see the upside of this rivalry.Does it help us in recruiting? How bout financially? Our SOS?
They take up a valuable home and home date that we could use for a far more worthy opponent.

Should clemson and SC not be each other's biggest rival? Should FSU not be as big a rival to UF as they are? How bout USC and ND?

The next time we go undefeated, then we can look at strengthening our schedule. But since it's been 23 years since we've beaten everyone we've played, I'll keep our schedule strength at the level it is currently.

Huh? Clemson,SC,FSU weren't original members of the SEC...hell UFAG and FSU played their FIRST game in 1959...a much more valid comparision would be the LSU/Tulane rivalary...also freed up LSU's schedule to go home and home with some intersectional opponents.
Tell ya what, if GT wants to expand their capacity to 80K AND sells it out like FSU and Clemson than I'd be all for playing 'em home and home (occasionally)
Once again, please give me the upside to playing GT...please give legitimate reasons...I understand all the crap about the hatred...but you gotta come up with something more than we both play in the same state.

Having two different conversations here. I haven't once gotten into whatever crap you're talking about about playing them or not..the only thing I've ever pointed out in here is that they're our biggest rival.

The university is a national and international leader in scientific and technological research and education. Over the past decade, overall research expenditures nearly doubled, increasing 93 percent to $655 million in 2011, while federal research expenditures increased nearly 158 percent. Georgia Tech now ranks among the top 10 in research expenditures among universities without a medical school. In addition, Georgia Tech has an estimated $3 billion annual impact on the metro Atlanta economy, according to a 2011 study.

MIT and CalTech are far better schools than GT but no one is jumping through hoops to get them on the schedule. Keep trying, Chrissy.
Also, a GT fan calling tech a university? I thought that was some sort of point of pride for GT or something like that.
