If the fumble was not caused by a defensive hit I agree with you...dead ball at that point in the game.

He was hit but also stretching out hands and ball. I did not see anything in rule 7 that says there had to be intent.

My best guess (without seeing it) is that the officials saw it as a fumble caused by the defensive player and thus a live ball. I'm no expert though.

There are rumors Dobbs broke multiple ribs last night, if true that is a type of injury that could linger all yr. I'm not sure who their backup QB is.

There is a clip of it on the rant right now, it's clearly a fumble from Dobbs, the defensive player is nowhere close to the ball.

But the defensive player clearly casused the fumble.
Did you see the shot Dobbs took from the App Statd player.

I can see it as a caused fumble, but I kinda feel like if you are extending the ball like that, you lose the right to call it caused by defense... But not sure of the rule, so I am guessing.

Wow. That was a textbook form tackle. Great hit by that App St player! Could have at least bruised Dobbs ribs.
After seeing that I'd have to guess that the refs saw it as a fumble caused by the hit v. Dobbs trying to advance the ball illegally. Just my opinion.

Does the under 2 minute rule carry over to OT though? I'm honestly not sure, the only aspect the announcers discussed when it happened was that because it wasn't fumbled on 4th down it was okay for Hurd to recover it.

It was definitely a convenient place to fumble the ball, Dobbs knew at that point he wasn't gonna get in. That call could have gone either way after seeing that clip.

Yeah I understand where you could say the defensive player cause it, but Dobbs was extending well before the hit.

I don't know, it could have gone either way I think.

We got embarrassed by Bama too AT home. If I'm not mistaken our players were jumping around bouncing by the Bama side as they came out.

Eta :CMR fake hype shite gone wrong. Worked for him once in Jax and thought he'd try again??? I dunno. My old coach would have never let us do that. He'd snatch us by our facemask and break our neck.
