If future schedule played a part they would not have had so many SEC West team s in the top 25 just a couple of weeks ago. The voters would have realized they would bump each other off.

Very little. It is a starting place only. That is why there is SO much movement in the polls early. Check out who was in the top 25 in the preseason polls and how many have dropped out. Perception gives way to reality REAL quick.

I don't think it should either. I was reacting to the comment that it is "retarded" to think that losing Gurley doesn't have an impact on people's votes. We are all just speculating since polls are just opinions, but, it wouldn't surpirse me one bit if some voters took that in to account. They do in the preseason so they very well may at midseason too. Certainly other factors are considered as well.

Not necessarily the case. The voters were basically saying that the SEC west was the top division in college ball, and could end up with multiple ranked teams despite losing games to other ranked teams in their division. That's why Ole Miss and MSU have moved up so high based on victories over other SEC West teams. But if Ole Miss or MSU lost their qb in practice this week, for example, there's a good chance they would drop in the polls even if they comfortably beat Kentucky or Tennessee next weekend. Pollsters would consider the increased likelihood of more future losses than previously expected.
