You haven't been a fan long enough to remember the Joe Cox days

Im a younger guy too, I'm sure some older dog fans have worse memories than that.

The furthest back I can go is watching David Greene play in the early 2000's

But I do understand what I think your broader point is. 2014 had some of the most head scratching losses in recent years. South Carolina was a bad team, and Florida blew us out while we were favored. It was an odd year for sure.

ha.

Yeah they were pretty bad, plus losing to auburn every other year (typically the home games) plus 2 to tech were infinitely worse than what we have going on currently.

You are at a crossroads, too, aren't you? I bet it's hard to choose which road - the one straight ahead that says frick off, or the one to the right that says eat a dick, or the one to the left that says jump off a bridge...

Richt has long since passed the crossroads. There wasn't an exactly point where that occurred, but rather a culmination of history.

Most on this board are resigned or accepting the UGA will run from 2 to 4 losses a year. Some are OK with that and are scared to lose Ricjt because it could be worse, some think that is a fine job and some think we can do better but realize it doesn't matter because the admins don't care about doing better.

In regard to recruiting, I think the days of can this program get me to the NFL are waning at best. In these days of mass media, if you are kicking arse out there in almost any D1 program, you will be noticed. The SEC at large still carries an advantage IMO, and some programs more specific positional advantages - Bama for defense and UGA for pro style QBs for example (in spite of our inexplicable discovery we don't have a QB on the roster this year). The number 1 overall in 2013 played at Central Michigan. I don't even know where the hell that is. The pros do.

I believe at the start of THIS nfl season we had one of the 3 highest amounts of players on NFL squads. It's not waning at all, if anything it's increasing.

My comment was not directed at UGA but college programs in general. The days of having to play at a "high profile" program to get noticed by the NFL are waning.

My example of the no 1 overall playing at Central Michigan has nothing to do with UGA. Mack played at Buffalo for goodness sake and went 5 overall a year later.

The point being you don't have to play for a UGA, a Bama, Fla, Penn St, western USC, Ohio St, etc to get noticed and drafted anymore. The pros will find you believe me.

Just watch what happens to the QB at lowly Memphis if he stays healthy.

In regard to the number of players from UGA in the NFL. I would attribute that to the talent level rather than coming from UGA. Many of those players blossom when they get to the NFL vs what they did at UGA. Davis at Denver being the prime example but there are many others. Additionally, you can argue that even makes the results of our program even worse - how can you have the 3rd most NFL talent in the nation and are middle tier SEC and worse on a national level - how can that be?

Oh, well yeah I agree with you there 100%.

And again I agree.

But at the same time, you're talking about 1 in 1000 players at those small schools that go first round. There are exponentially more players from P5 schools going in the first round than small schools. So if the #1 priority on a kid's list is making it to the league...he's still absolutely going to look at a big time school first.

Dumbass he's 141 wins and 50 loses with.738 winning percentage. In his 14 seasons he's won 10 or more games in 9 of those years. So a championship no, but he ain't an 8 win a year guy either. You motherfrickers are sorry arse fans and should probably join the rambling wreck crew because your pussies are always hurting? fricktard!

As Yogi said, "when you come to a cross in the road, take it".

Actually it was when you come to a fork in the road, take it.

With that being said, I pass this along from my football coach and 11th grade math teacher.

"Don't cross your head with a stop sign, you may get run over by a car coming from the other side."

Your interpretation will be as good as mine.

I also believe he's at a crossroads, but none of that has to do with this season.

I think the timeline is through the 2017 season.
by then this next class will be making an impact, including Jacob Eason. The IPF will be built, and the increases in financial support of additional staff and coaches will be cemented.

If CMR does not win the conference and at least make the playoffs by the end of 2017, I believe the Admin will finally start discussions on change.

Nothing, short of another losing season, will speed that timeline up. If he does succeed in winning the conference and making the playoffs, whether or not he wins the title; he will be able to retire whenever he wants. T that time those who do not like CMR no matter what will either be happy ( even though their happiness is brought through UGA losing), or will have to make a tough decision support UGA and CMR or find another team.

Likely true. My point was not whether he would be fired or when he would leave but that he is building a resume as a HC running a program that can't get it done and in fact is trending down.

The elite athletes will opt for programs with a recent history of winning, playing time, fit for talent, and to some degree NFL oppty, academics, location, weather, future OOC schedule, friendships present and planning to attend, distance from home.

Elite talent controls choice and picks school.

Elite Programs controls choice and picks less than top tier talent.

To win you need to excel at both.
