I made a thread before the season started about his story compared to Stetsons and overwhelmingly and agreeably most were saying Stetsons story was by far the best I just wanted to revisit this a little bit further . He’s looked better than Stetson this year IMHO and THATS coming from a guy who overwhelmingly bitched and complained about the first four games on how we looked . And I was dead wrong and I was wrong and I apologize. Now there are rumor’s hopefully they are true that Carson is coming back, and I fully hope he does, and would welcome him back and to add to his story he possibly could be the quarterback who as of right now who as a chance to win two back to back SEC championships and possibly a Third Straight National Championship and possibly if he returns next year to win the Heisman Trophy(honestly think he should be in talks this year) just more thoughts on the Two Quarterbacks story? I honestly think Carson’s has the potential to be the best feeling story .

Beck is 100% a better and more talented QB than Stetson. That’s not really a jab at the mailman love the dude it’s mostly just a matter of size and natural talent. Beck is the best QB in the country pre snap and processing his reads.

As far as story? Nothing will ever top the story of Stetson. It would be over the top if someone presented it to be as a movie it’s insane the way it played out in real life. It’s unfortunate how it seems to have ended though for him with his struggles

If we're just talking about some kind of subjective storybook factor based on entertainment value it's nearly impossible to top Stetson's unless it's like a Jim Abbot situation where the QB has like a deformed arm or something. To go from unheralded undersized goofy looking walk on that was told you wouldn't ever play and transferred out then transferred back in and won 2 straight natties and was a heisman finalist...I mean you can't really top that.

Carson wsa a high 4* recruit and is playing lights out, but lots of blue chip QBs peform that way.

I will also say I was wrong about Beck. I do believe that he could be one of the best ever to wear the red and black

was he a 4*? I was reading somewhere or if I remember correctly that he was a 5* or did he drop before he entered college?

Pretty sure he was a 4*, but not a really high one and not even a top player in Florida that year

He was a 5*, according to at least one service, as a Junior. He lost that 5th * as a senior.

I believe he may have been a 5 star his Junior year when they won the title, but his senior year things fell off for him as he didn't have a good oline and the same weapons at wr the year prior.

Stockton =.9400
Vandagriff =.9700
Mathis =.8600
Bennett =.8300

Fromm =.9600
Eason =.9900
Park =.9600
Ramsey =.9700
Lemay =.9500

Looking over that list…recruit rating is pretty clearly an inexact science.

Beck only needs 76 yards Saturday to pass Eric Zeier’s 1994 season for 5th in school history.

He’s averaging right at 300 yards per game, so if he does that at Tech, he would move all the way up to 3rd in school history, only behind 2012 Aaron Murray and 2022 Stetson.

Btw, he would still have two (possibly three) games to play after that.

Georgia single-season passing leaders:
1. 2022 Stetson Bennett - 4,128
2. 2012 Aaron Murray - 3,893
3. 1993 Eric Zeier - 3,525
4. 2008 Matthew Stafford - 3,459
5. 1994 Eric Zeier - 3,396
6. 2023 Carson Beck - 3,320
7. 2003 David Greene - 3,307
8. 2011 Aaron Murray - 3,149
9. 2013 Aaron Murray - 3,075
10. 2010 Aaron Murray - 3,049

As a note, Mike Bobo has OC’d 6 of the top 10 passing seasons in UGA history.

It’s definitely not an exact science, but I also think it’s worse at QB than any other position. The speed and complicated game today at the college level makes it very tough in my opinion. Also, typically only 1 QB plays and thus get less exposure and experience

Beck already has two NC rings. A third is a distinct possibility.

The main question with Beck for me was how he saw the field. It was clear he had a gun of an arm. He seems to have improved each game and sees things really well. He has also gotten better at the back shoulder. Really close to becoming a complete player. He makes some throws Stet could not make.

300 yards against Tech and Beck is #3 in single season.

What was zeier's per game number?

Those first few games he was tenative. In retrospect he and Bobo were probably both getting comfortable. But at some point there I started to doubt he was 'THE guy'. I also had my doubts about Stetson right up until he threw that TD to AD in the NC. So count me in on the mea culpas.

Carson may not have the SB3 made for hollywood story but he has turned out to be one helluva uga qb and as one writer put it maybe the biggest reason uga now has a realistic shot at a magical mythical threepeat.

I will say though that I never doubted Bobo. Since his very first teething issues after taking over for Richt he’s been a brilliant OC imo. I think the doubters just remembered the hiccups more than the successes.

Beck has a great chance to go 4K on the season.

Never in all my years did I think I would see 2 different UGA QBs go back to back 4,000 passing yards

A run for all the marbles most likely means he'll glide past Stetson's record.
