The ultimate question in this match-up IMO. Crawford's suspension is pretty huge.

Pruitt's defense held Clemson to only 7 points until the game was way over in the 4thQ while amassing 51 pretty easily....

UGA talent is pretty equal can he get them whipped into a lean, mean, fighting machine by game time?

I think so UGA staaaacked Clemsun Fuuuuu\

No, not really. Our LBs are better than theirs from last year, but their secondary is light years ahead of where we are now, and they had an elite DT that could singlehandedly change a game.

Now, I'm not saying we suck or anything. I expect us to do very well against Clemson. But our defense in game 1 this year isn't really a good comparison to FSU's defense in game like 6 from last year.

Where do you get this? They return 2 starters......and will be starting 2 sophomores. We also have a ton of talent at db...they are all just young and unproven.

While I do agree they have the advantage in the secondary, we have an overwhelming advantage at LB.

I would give the nod to our defense over their offense, more than their defense over our offense

That FSU's 2013 secondary is better than ours is right now?

He graduated from UGA and is smart... Don't you scold him for not getting the point!

Keep in mind that Pruitts first year at FSU, he took a team returning only 4 starters and led them to the MNC. They also let up a measly 12 points per game.

I think we are much more talented than FSU was last year. Granted, our schedule is way tougher

Surprise surprise. In ruining another thread and contributing absolutely nothing to the conversation......

Admittedly not knowing much about FSU's roster from last year, I think you can compare them last year to us this year as follows:

QB- FSU big
RB- UGA
OL- no clue at all
WR- push

DL- FSU
LB- UGA
DB- FSU

But like you said, schedule is the big difference. The thing that gives me hope though is that if there's anyone out there that can turn our defense around, I believe Pruitt can.

This is what I was responding to:

I thought it was clear I was referring to 2014 UGA vs FSU 2013. Sorry if that wasn't clear.

It is clear going back and rereadin, again, miss communication on my part.

As for the DL, I give the nod to UGA this year over FSU last year. They returned ZERO starters on their DL from 2012 to 2013. Not really fair to compare how they ended up doing vs how we are going to start, IMO

That's why it was so impressive what Pruitt was able to do.

And we returned essentially zero starters at RB from 2011 to 2012, but obviously 2012 was better. The whole comparison was centered around Clemson...how Pruitt/FSU did against Clemson comparing to how we might do this year. FSU played Clemson midway through the season last year, we have them game 1. FSU's DL in October was almost surely better than ours will be to open. That's not a knock on us by any means either, but Jernigan is a gamechanger plain and simple. Guys like that don't just grow on trees, and we currently don't have anyone like that.

Now, if you want to compare FSU in November of last year and us in November of this year, sure I can see that the DLs would be equivalent, we've got talent for sure. I'm just not sold on it being in midseason form in the opener.

FSU had experienced D line guys who were also highly rated recruits replacing drafted guys. Plus, they had just changed defenses.
