A player REALLY has to love football and believe his chances are very good of eventually making a roster to go the practice squad route. I coached two players who did that for a couple of years each. Both just got tired of getting the hell beat out of them for the same money they could make coaching HS football. Ganus might have talked to enough players who told him the reality of that situation and the odds of ever making a roster. I would not want to do it unless I was advised that I was truly on the bubble between being a practice squad player and making a team.
