Gonna be down there for a few days coming up and have never been there before. I planned on mostly just getting trashed on the beach, but are there any good restaurants down there?

I went to Edisto Beach for a senior trip a few years back. But what I remember about food is that my friend's family cooked for us every night. And when we drove through town a few times I don't recall any restaurants, but there could be a few hole-in-the-wall type places. But all I remember really is a souvenir shop and a small grocery store (Piggly Wiggly maybe).

I'd say the majority of restaurants, bars, etc you'll have to make your way into Charleston since it's nearby. That was about 6 years ago but Edisto is small so it probably hasn't changed too much. Have fun man!

ETA: Quick google search and it looks like there are a few joints with good reviews. Friend's family must have been cheap asses. Bastards. They did take me deep sea fishing though.

Gotcha, thanks. I'll be down there with a bunch of buddies so I imagine we'll just stay on the beach or in the houses we rented. From waht I understand it is a pretty small, quaint little place without a ton of touristy-type stuff, but that suits me fine. I was just curious if there was a local bar or something that we shoudl check out.

I'm sure there's a Oyster Bar/Grill type of place that you can enjoy. And you're right, not very touristy it's mostly locals. Y'all can get drunk and have a good time.

thanks. I don't care where I'm going on earth, if I'm on vacation, I'll be getting drunk. So I'm not worried about that part.

Edisto is like the mountains, you might want to pack in your food and certain beverages. I went there in 02 and there was one seafood restaurant and it was mediocre and a few fast food places. There really is not much there besides the beach.

It's my regular go-to when I'm going to the beach. Stop by Flowers Seafood on a daily basis to load up on fresh seafood for dinner each night. There aren't good restaurants there, aside from Dockside. Dockside is the titties if you're looking to get drunk. It's a fun, non-crowded beach with pretty damn good fishing. Get drunk, grill some fresh seafood, enjoy the beach. The Piggly Wiggly is now a Bi-Lo, which is gay, but still good for staples.

i have a place there. it is very slow. get all your beer and booze before you come down. Only a few places to eat now. Do not drive drunk or over the speed limit. Lots of UGA grads with houses down there which is cool.

The beach there is nice and not crowded. You may luck up and find a covey of milfs, but mainly families.

Also, bring water. Tap water not drinkable.

Go to the church behind the Old Post Office during low tide and it's the best place for crabbing

Please leave the beach cleaner than it was when you got there.

My in-laws own a house on Edisto. The island itself is 90% residential, which sounds boring but it’s nice and quiet. The beaches, outside of major holidays, are never really packed so it’s easy to set-up shop and down some beers.

Two things:
1. You will see a lot of dolphin in the area
2. There are a shite ton of jellysfish near shore so be careful
3. If you’re on the backside of the island, stop at Bi-Lo when you get there and load up

Good tips in here. I'll be headed there myself for the 4th. Can't wait. Love Edisto. Quiet and slow. Like me.

Everyone pretty much nailed it. I love Edisto...just don't expect it to be Hilton Head in terms of eating/shopping/population, which I don't think you are.

Go check out Botany Bay one day if you get a chance

Thanks, I doubt we will though. I think we're mostly settled on just setting up on the beach and drinking to failure.

Interesting, I honestly didn’t know that. Now that I think about it mid-to-late summer is worst than late spring-early summer. All I know is I’ve been stung multiple times at Edisto and zero times at other beaches. Those m’f will get you
