Am I the only one who thinks UT could pull the huge upset of UGA?

It seems like we've seen this situation before...big win the week before, followed by a letdown. It also seems this has specifically happened a couple of times in recent years against UT.

UT offensive line was supposed to be one of the best in the SEC...and could still be...but for some reason they haven't put it all together. (I noted Jenkins commenting about how big those guys are).

They have good backs.

It's UT...across the board, they have the athletes.

This is a "make or break your season" game for UT. I just hope it's possible for UGA to get "up" again after such an emotional game last weekend.

I'm not sure why folks are acting like this game is a potential blow-out by UGA. I could see it being dangerously close, especially given how bad our defense has been this year...

Am I missing something?

No they don't... and they're certainly not on the level of Davis, McDowell, and Hill.

Worley might be the worst QB in the SEC, and he isn't mobile. North Texas QB was probably better.

Their athletes on defense are terrible though. Oregon ran them
off the field.

Our defense should still be motivated by the fact that they haven't played a complete game yet. We'll be facing a shitty pocket passer and subpar RBs, and they don't have WR on the level of Beckham and Landry, although North might end up there.

Not saying we can't still be upset, but this is where my confidence is coming from.

Their starter Raijon(sp) Neal ran for over 100 on UGA last year. He's not a great back, but has potential.

Different team last year. Our focus was on stopping Bray and those WRs. All of those elements are gone. Focus on stopping the run. and make Worley beat you. Plus, I think our D-line is better this year than last year.

Pretty sure we lost to UT in 07. Seems similar, but they suck a lot more now than they did then. Butch was the best hire they could've made...for the rest of the sec east.

Yes. The past is not prologue to the future. UTn is baely good enough to win their spring game.
The potential upset game to worry about is Mizzou.

I'm always going to be nervous about going into Knoxville, but this is honestly the biggest discrepancy in how good our teams are that I've seen. Well at least when thinking about times we were better than them.

There is no way UTn has a better O-Line than LSU. Hill and whatever that freeking FB for LSU's name is, are a thousand times better than UTn. We will stuff the run and they have no more Bray, Patterson, or Hunter. We will be fine this week. We will also be pumped for our first road win of the season and will not overlook this team with a first year coach and everybody else, for that matter. No contest. History can suck my nuts. We had the best D Uga has had in a long time and couldn't stop the run last year. We held the second best rushing attack to 14 yards in the first half last week. Mourn D is way better than fricking Oregon's.

Another thing Worley does is hold onto the ball too long. They may have the best offensive line in the SEC, but it's hard to pass protect for 5+ seconds. The only thing they have going for them is a top 10 team in Neyland and a jersey gimmick.

Honestly, with the way our offense is playing, this game doesn't worry me at all. UT is atrocious on offense. We'd have to have our worst offensive game yet to get close to being upset. Going to Neyland has traditionally never been a good thing for us, but this is possibly the worst UT team in 10 years. Bray and that receiving corp made it a shoot out last year. They're gone. Dawgs by 21.

Let's break it down then

quote:

Donnan years

Irrelevant, don't care

quote:

2003 loss to LSU followed by win over Alabama (after a bye week)
2003 loss to LSU (SEC C Game) followed by win over Purdue in Citrus Bowl

W

quote:

2004 win over LSU followed by upset loss to Tennessee

This is the only one that really has merit, but UT was actually good that year, as proven by the fact they won the east. They are light years better than this UT team, and we could be better than 2004.

quote:

2005 win over LSU (SEC C Game) followed by Sugar Bowl loss to West Virginia

In a BCS bowl game..

quote:

2008 win over LSU followed by a loss to Florida

won won the national title..

quote:

2009 loss to LSU followed by a loss to Tennessee

We had 5 losses that year

quote:

2011 loss to LSU (SEC C Game) followed by a loss to Michigan State in Outback Bowl

In a bowl game, against a good, ranked team

None of the above situations describe this year, which would be a really good UGA team playing a bad, BAD tennessee team.

Yes, The fact that UT sucks this year.Their own fans have no confidence in them for this game. Grantham will game plan same as with LSU..load up to stop the run and make Worley beat us with his arm

Not no but hell no...this is a classic trap game, especially for the DAWGS who have a unique ability to spoil the bed linens when given the opportunity...

it's a game that I would expect us to be a little flat in and not play 100%. I don't see any scenario that has us losing though.

How many times have we had a really, really good team and lost to a really, really bad team? All our losses against inferior UT, vandy, uk, etc teams have been in years where we've been average to awful.

Our best years (02, 03, 04, 07, 12) all of our losses with one exception (SC 07) have come to teams who were pretty good to really great.

People are getting too tied up in the "T" logo on their helmets, and not paying enough attention to the players wearing those helmets.

UT is horrible. They have no playmakers on their entire team.

The thing you guys are forgetting, and I have no idea why, is how powerful our offense is...we put up 40+ easy. Only way we lose this game is if the defense just doesnt get off the bus.

Even if the D doesn't show up, this isn't the recent UT with bray, Patterson, hunter, foster, ainge, etc.

Worley could be the worst qb in the league. They are dreadful.

Save your breathe, er...keystrokes. Ive been saying the same thing all week, and they have damn near bitched me off the board for it. We COULD and probably even SHOULD run UT out of their own stadium...but we may also be sporting some severely bruised feelings come Saturday night.
