A little perspective

So as we lament our losses and worry about our fate I thought I would give a little perspective. I am now on day 8 of being in the ICU with a tube draining blood from my brain. I have been bleeding red all week. I hope to have the tube out in the next couple of days. Other than visits and calls from my family, nothing has provided me with greater needed distraction and entertainment than UGA football and you good people. Thank you all for being who you are and providing a slice of life everyday. You don't always realize the value of something as small a random internet discussions with "friends" that you have mostly never met.
I should be out of here in the next few days and back to normal (relative term). But as I get blood stuck from my arm every morning at 4 am it's nice to have you guys out there. I may not be everyone's favorite poster but I do thank you all for being there.
I am convinced that the bleeding I have done this week will factor heavily in the whooping we will put on the gators. Look for Godwin to have a breakout game.
Go Dawgs!!

I'm a male nurse...and I've had a female patient grab my vitals while I was leaning over to look at her snatch. Nice to see it going the other way.

After this past May, I came to the realization that I may have Stage 4 Colon cancer at 35. Spots on my lungs and a mass in my colon. Keep in mind, prognosis for that is 10% to make it 5 years. Horrifying, when you take into account I have a wife and young daughter. Somehow, that mass that showed up on multiple scans went away
I was amazed by the friends, family, and people I didn't know, some I will never know, that prayed for my family and myself.
I was left diagnosed with a rare, incurable, virtually unknown inflammatory auto immune disease that I've probably had since my early 20's.
My perspective, is that we awake everyday victorious! I could have 15-20 years, could live to 70, I could get in a car accident on my daily commute. Either way, I win EVERYDAY. On Game days .....I win EITHER WAY. When I hurt, I give thanks and glory ANYWAY!!!
I hope in some way, this tribulation you are in, leads you to find peace and comfort, that can only be found once we realize that we are not the ones in control.
May God continue to Bless you and your family Broncothor. Thanks for keeping us updated.

If you start bleeding orange, ask them for a bit of that cyanide. To you know, ease the pain.

That is correct. I don't want to highjack this thread, but would love any info you may have concerning this, if at all possible. As you know, there is very little info out there concerning Sarcoidosis and I've only known about it for 4 months
@yahoo.com if you have time.
I hope your wife is doing well

cancer at 35
It does put it in perspective doesn't it....my wife was diagnosed Stage IIIb Melanoma when she was 32. That was a rough year with two surgeries within a three week period and then year long Interferon treatment. But through God's grace she just celebrated her 4 year anniversary of being cancer free. Next year is a big anniversary as the odds for re-occurrence decrease after 5 years fairly decently and then significantly after 10 years.

It does. I remember after chest CT, going to doctor and thinking I might have Lung cancer (this was before they found mystery mass in colon). I bought some liquor and some smokes (I had quit for a while) and sat at a creek on our land and just lost it. Total mental breakdown. Who was going to take care of my girls, who was going to teach my daughter all she needs to know???
The only thing that kept me sane, was knowing it was me and not my kid. No matter what we go through, whatever trial or tribulation, someone always has it worse.
Weird in our culture that people that OD on blow or get a sex change are considered heroes and get so much publicity.
Your wife, family, and many like you are what defines the spirit of what being a hero means to me.
There is way more to it than the surgeries, treatments, appts, etc. that most people never know about...... unless they go through it.
Prayers for your family!

She was doing well, but is not feeling well right now. In fact, she's at the doctor's office right now. I did a lot of reading when my wife became ill. At first, they though it might be lymphoma, but after 3 months of tests, and office visits, we found the problem. Sarcoidosis can attack just about any organ, but the lungs are the most affected organ. The first test she went through was a lung biopsy, and it was normal. Her "mass" was almost right behind her sternum. The last, and deciding test/surgery was a Mediastenoscopy (sp). The surgeon makes a left to right incision up high on the breast plate (just below that spot where our adams apple is), and inserts an instrument to resect some of the tissue for testing. That testing at the lab determined the tissue was Sarcoid, and not cancerous.
There is no known cure, and the only drug of choice is steroids. Up until now, the doctor has not asked her to take steroids, because there are huge side effects over the long haul. There is a lot of info on the internet, and I strongly urge you to read up...and ask questions of your doctor. Let me know how it goes, and GOOD LUCK!
