You're right, Goede and Bertrand are two others worth watching. Goede could be the best TE in the 2019 class.

Amazing what landing the top RB in the country can do for the board's mood. Everyone seems much more cheerful now.

You should've visited the DawgNation forum at the AJC over the past month. I've never seen such a "sky is falling" bunch in my life. There are a couple of guys over there that are off the charts!

Zeus told Jeff Sentell that he committed to us a month ago after he saw how big our OL is/will be. Could be considered another feather in the cap for Pittman

Our RB corp could make these OL look like studs if they give them just a little bit of daylight versus the past year or 2 when Chubb and Michel were getting hit while taking the handoff.

I sincerely believe that if CKS can piece together a decent or very good class (which Zeus is a key part of) to go together with the 2017 class and what appears to be a very strong 2019 class then we're definitely in a good spot.

My hope is that he develops his gameday coaching and overall coaching to the point that he's able to maximize the talent that he's clearly able to bring in.

If that happens, which it very likely should/ could, we will be an extremely formidable foe and likely a National Champion within a few years.

ETA: we WILL need a QB that is able to see a stacked box and then execute a pass to make them pay.
We will need that ability with a stable full of talented RBs.

If you thought DawgNation was bad, you haven't seen anything like the 247 board. The negativity was overbearing. Fortunately for the rant, most of us understand it's a long process.

This is what Pittman got to work with this year.
Kendall Baker
Ben Cleveland
Lamont Gaillard
D'Marcus Hayes
Dyshon Sims
Isaiah Wynn
Solomon Kindley
Chris Barnes
Sage Hardin
Sam Madden
Isaiah Wilson
Andres Thomas
Netori Johnson

Bring in Salyer and Hill next year, and lets see what the talk about the Pittman hire was about. If he is as good as he was hyped up to be this list should help the offense average over 40 points per game for the next 4 years. Give him an additional feather on the cap if he can build this oline into a dominant one and keep the big boys coming in.

He's going to need to recruit at an elite level for 15 years before we can officially make that determination.

Richt recruited at a high level, but rarely at an elite one. A top 3 class is elite, occasionally a top 5 class will be elite depending on circumstances. Top 10 is very good, but it is not a truly "elite" class.

There's no shame in 2nd place... which Richt is again signing the #2 RB... he had a hard time closing out on the #1's late in his career.

And the poster above also mentioned an elite level.

I'd just qualify that Richt recruited at a level between "high" and "elite."

I'd say he recruited at a "very high level, sometimes elite." It was in the development of that talent and/or use of that talent that he lacked.

Kirbs is recruiting at a similar or better level (thus far). Can he develop it and use it better? I certainly hope so. If I was the AD at this particular point and I ignored all other possible variables and different scenarios I'd say the next 2 years will determine Kirby's future as the coach.

Richt did develop QBs very well though.

I was just throwing shade at wdhalgren for saying Kirby is an unproven recruiter a couple of weeks back, no need to get the thread derailed.

I agree with this but I definitely believe Keith Marshall was the best running back out of high school in '12. Nobody saw Gurley taking off like he would. Keith was pretty much the consensus number one back IMO

Towards the end of the season Gurley's stock was sky rocketing and there were a few regional analysts who said they believed he was the best back in the nation, they just didn't have the pull to change his ranking like the national guys do.

To his credit, JC Shurburtt was one. He was in awe of Gurley at the Shrine Bowl.

We got 3 CBs today for Tyreke Johnson fwiw. It sounds like we're about to rip off a few commits in short order, hope he's one of them.

Between yesterday and today, the CB's have been steadily pouring in for Johnson. I like it. Add Johnson and Wynn this month, maybe Jackson, and we'll be in great shape heading into August.

I remember this as well. Ripped off like 200 yds on a bum ankle at that game or something like that.

He visited Miami a few months back. Any idea how that went?

This is a head to head CMR CKS recruiting battle.

Judging from some folks with connections to the recruitment and the CB's, I'd say the visit to Miami wasn't all that great. Looks like UGA is in the catbird seat.
