Fields doesn't match that description. Ton of Dawg fans in his family, sister is going there, grew up in state of GA.
Fields has desire to come to UGA, the problem is that he also, imo, desires an NFL career which levels the playing field with Jimbo and FSUimo.
I'd say Kirby getting Fields would be the ultimate recruiting win. This guy is a game changer.

It really does appear that he has that "generational talent" (e.g. Watson/Newton/Tebow/Bo/Herschel) vibe going on. It's not coincidental that NC and Heismans abound with that crowd.
I agree that landing Fields would be Kirby's ultimate recruiting win, to this point. The competition is fierce for this kid.

No. If a kid doesnt want to play at a school, its not a miss. You cant make every kid want to play football at your school

No, it is not. Some have no desire. None at all.
That's true. But the original point was that we had 3 instate QBs plus Corral to potentially go get, and not getting any of them would be a miss.
You say that wouldn't be a miss because some kids have no interest in UGA at all - do you believe that describes all 4 of the QBs in the discussion?

Wow.
Its funny how opinions on certain things change when a new HC is hired.

There will always be kids who, for one reason or another, do not want to go to UGA. Fields isn't one of those kids, though. He has genuine interest and (I believe), a desire to go to UGA but FSU has a lot in their corner, too. This one will be a fight.

No, the same was said when Richt was coach. The point is, if a kid wants to go somewhere else it isn't a miss. How is it a miss if someone has no desire? Maybe they grew up another school's fan? Or hate UGA (blasphemy, I know)??

I'd say not signing the #1 player in the country, who is from the state of Georgia, would be a miss. Even more so since he has UGA high on his list.

Could someone please link me to the GSB 2018 recruiting thread? I'd like the latest on the recruits!

Ej Manuel blows, Christian Ponder blows, and I doubt Francois will be a first rounder
But the 3 guys who have been 1st rounders and 1 who probably will be is absolutely appealing. Fields' father even said so today.
If you're a 1st round draft pick, and you're not an idiot, you're pretty much set for life financially.

These are 18 year kids who may have NO INTEREST in UGA at all.
Corral had us as the favorite, and then the 3 other guys are 5 stars, two of who had a big interest at some point. It's fine if we still get someone at least decent (if Fields goes elsewhere), but if not here's our QB situation most likely in 2019:
Starter: Jr. - Jake Fromm
Backup: either Tr. Freshman or Transfer, and that's it. If we don't pick up a stud in the 2019 class we'd be in a lot of trouble if Fromm got hurt.

difference being he has interest and would hurt if he doesn't pick us. If Fields never took a visit, or never showed any desire whatsoever to play for the instate school it really isn't a miss IMO

Is Fields considered an ee. Only thing from Chaney that separates his pitch from the otherss for Fields is he coached Brees to rush for 500+ yards his senior season.
I was fairly shocked at that stat.

Fields, from my understanding will not be a EE. He wants to play baseball. He has said he has no problem sitting a year, redshirting learning the system.

In his interview with Sentell not too long ago, he waffled on that a bit. It sounded like he's "flexible" but would probably prefer not to EE. Ie... if the school he selects has a potential chance for him to start as a freshman, he'll EE but otherwise probably not. Assuming the mix is some combination of FSU, UGA, and Auburn, only FSU and Auburn would really be in the cards there in all likelihood for EE status, and that's only if Stidham/Francois were to bolt early for the NFL which would require pretty stellar seasons from both given the expected QB class coming out this year I believe.
Most notable likely draft entries at QB:
Sam Darnold (USC)
Josh Rosen (UCLA)
Josh Allen (Wyoming)
Luke Falk (Washington State)
Mason Rudolph (Ok St)
Lamar Jackson (Louisville)
Not impossible that Stidham or Francois could cut into that group of 6 to work their way up the board, but Francois looked pretty poor for good chunks of last year and Stidham hasn't played in over a year (which hurts with teams that are more data driven in their player analysis... no one loves small sample sizes). Again, neither is a lock to come back or go to the draft, but you have to think it takes more than just an average performance to jump out early for both.
With that said, if Eason doesn't take pretty major strides forward this year, we may be saying the same thing about him after the 2017 season.

Of the 3 QB's he mentioned, all had interest in UGA at some point. Not getting any of them would absolutely be a miss, especially considering our depth chart.

Agreed. Field's recruitment is an extreme nail biter but I like the fact that Kirby is going all out for him. If we get him we will certainly be in the playoff conversation for 2018-2020. That is if we keep it up on the recruiting trail which I fully expect us to.

I agree.
Was that meant for me, or in general?
